How do I log into my SMU email? ›

SMU email can be accessed via webmail.smu.edu. In addition, email clients such as Outlook, Outlook for Mac, Thunderbird with the Owl add-on, Apple Mail and others can be configured to retrieve mail from the SMU servers. Mail clients can also be configured on cellular phones and tablet devices.

Application Processing Timeline

After the review process has started, we will issue decisions approximately four weeks after all application materials are submitted. You can review the status of your completed application by visiting your personalized status page.

All SMU graduates can continue using existing student email accounts. This is a lifelong email account given to students during matriculation. The name of the account remains unchanged. Please note that if you do not access your account for more than 6 months, your account will be de-activated.

Activate Your Account

Please enter your A-Number and PIN below to activate your SMU account and receive two login credentials, SMU email address and sNumber, required to access SMU systems. A-Number: Refer to your acceptance letter (students) or HR documentation (faculty/staff).

Students may take one course per term on a pass/fail basis. The maximum total credit with a grade of Pass that may count toward a degree is 12 hours. SMU Abroad students should also see the Grade Options for Courses Taken on SMU Abroad Programs section in this catalog.

The average turnaround time for an admissions decision for schools with rolling admissions is four to six weeks, though in some cases students might have to wait longer. For regular decision candidates, the wait is more like eight to 12 weeks.

These days, most college acceptance letters will arrive as either an email or application status update on a college's own application portal. Afterward, you'll usually receive a hard copy of your acceptance letter in the mail and further updates via email or mail.

While many colleges will waitlist hundreds or even thousands of students, not all of those students will accept a spot on the waitlist, making the pool, and the chances of getting in, slightly better in some cases. According to NACAC, 20% of all students who chose to remain on waitlists were ultimately admitted.

How do you know if you are accepted? ›

An acceptance letter and a denial letter — graduating high school students can receive any of these letters after the colleges and universities they applied to have made their decisions. Sometimes, a deferral letter may be sent their way, too, if they apply via an early admission plan.

In the event that a participant fails an assessment, only 1 retake is allowed. This is chargeable at $107.00 (to be completed within 7 calendar days from the course end date). Should the participant fail the retake, the full course fee (without funding) can be charged.

D is the lowest passing grade in SMU. Local students with a cumulative term GPA of 1.3 or lower are cautioned and/or put on probation. Continuous low performance may result in dismissal.

How long does the WSU email address remain the preferred email? The WSU email will remain the preferred email for six months following a student's separation from WSU. After six months, alumni and former students will have the option of manually changing their preferred email address.

For those who are not fully familiar, . edu is an email address that each student is given when enrolling in college. The reason students are given this email address lies in the fact that they cannot really use their private email accounts to converse with college administrators, lecturers, professors, etc.

On your computer, go to Gmail. Enter your Google Account email or phone number and password. If information is already filled in and you have to sign in to a different account, click Use another account. If you get a page that describes Gmail instead of the sign-in page, at the top right of the page, click Sign in.

All SMU students who have elected for the sports package (full time students that pay full tuition/fees) will have the ability to request a complimentary student ticket for each home game.

It depends. The more you've hired for a role in the past, the higher the pass rate (30-50%), and the less you've hired for a position in the past, the lower the pass rate (10-30%). C is anywhere between 70% and 79% D - this is still a passing grade, and it's between 59% and 69% F - this is a failing grade.

A letter grade of a D is technically considered passing because it not a failure. A D is any percentage between 60-69%, whereas a failure occurs below 60%.

Although higher education institutions prefer not to and luckily rarely have to, it is important to known that it is possible for colleges to rescind their admissions offer even after an acceptance letter has been delivered.

Is waitlist basically a rejection? ›

If your college application is waitlisted, it's basically the same as receiving a "maybe" from that school. If your application is deferred, you will not receive an early admission decision. If waitlisted, agree to enroll in a backup school, but consider writing a letter of continued interest.

Your declared major might be the issue. Many schools look for a balanced makeup of their freshman class in terms of area of study. If there are too many students with your intended major, you might be placed on a waitlist while the school attempts to accept more candidates from other majors.

Most commonly, no, colleges do not send rejection letters before sending acceptance letters. Acceptance, waitlist and rejection letters are usually sent to applicants around the same time.

Almost every senior receives at least one college rejection letter. This is tough advice, but try not to take the rejection personally. Most U.S. colleges admit a majority of applicants. Only 3.4% of schools fall into the most selective category, meaning they admit fewer than 10% of applicants.

Postgraduate students must normally pass all their modules to meet their award requirements. However, the relevant Examination Board may disregard failure in up to 30 credits where you have achieved a module mark of 40-49.9 in each of the failed modules and your overall average is 50.0 or greater.

Typically, universities allow students to re-sit their failed modules, meaning failing the second year at the university shouldn't mark the end of your academic journey.

The general principle is that you are entitled to receive the teaching for a module once and that you can have two attempts at passing it. If you fail the first attempt, you will be offered a further attempt at the assessment, but your mark will be capped at the minimum pass mark.

The normal grading range is from 55 to 100. The number grades correspond to letter grades as reflected in the chart below. The minimum passing grade is 70 (C). Any grades between 55 and 69 (D and F) are considered failing grades for which unit credit is not earned.

Students who fail to complete one unit in any one year will be required to enrol in failed unit and audit the skills component of the successfully completed unit in their next year of study. Students who fail both units at the first attempt will be required to repeat both units in their next year of study.

Resetting Your Password
