Heirlooms are sought after items in Apex Legends that can only be acquired in two ways:
Through Collection Events, players can unlock a new heirloom by purchasing the event set.
By spending 150 Heirloom Shards to purchase an Heirloom from the in-game store
Collection Events grant players the ability to unlock a new, never-seen-before Heirloom that will only be available for a limited time. Once all the items in the event have been collected, which can be very pricey.
The other way is by spending Heirloom Shards in the in-game shop, which will let you purchase the Heirloom of your choice.
How to get Heirloom Shards in Apex Legends
Unfortunately, there is only one way to get your hands on Heirloom Shards, and that is by opening Apex Packs.
You only have a 1 in 500 chance of getting Heirloom Shards in a pack, and it may take you all 500 Apex Packs to actually get them. The pack will include 150 Heirloom Shards inside it, so you’ll immediately be able to purchase the Heirloom of your choice.

By calculating your level reached in each season’s battle pass, daily treasure packs collected, and event packs received, the Apex Packs Calculator website can roughly estimate how many packs you have opened. Therefore, how many you are off before receiving your Heirloom Shards in the 500th.
Remember that you may have to estimate some categories, like how many packs you have purchased or how many treasure packs you collected in the previous seasons. However, even with rough estimates of these categories, you should still get a good idea of how many packs you have opened.
You can get an even better estimate by checking your account stats for each season in the lobby menu by clicking your name. This will give you a breakdown of your level reached each season and make the Apex Pack Calculator more accurate regarding the number of seasonal packs you have opened.

Players are guaranteed one set of Heirloom Shards for every 500 non-event Apex packs they obtain, but there's no in-game metric that tracks just how many packs you've opened over the course of your playing time.
You will get 150 heirloom shards which will allow you to unlock an existing heirloom or you can save up the currency and wait for a new heirloom set to release. It will cost you $440 USD to purchase 500 packs.
To find out how many Apex packs you have purchased from the store, review your purhcase history of your account by accessing your gaming store profile on your platform, and look for a listing of transactions. Type in your level for each season as well as whether you have purchased the battle pass.
The pity timer on Apex Legends heirlooms is 500 Apex Packs, meaning you are guaranteed to unlock an heirloom set when you open your 500th pack, but prior to that, you only have a 0.2% chance of opening an heirloom set in every Apex Pack you open.
Heirloom Shards arrived as an alternative to the old system. Now, instead of finding a Heirloom set for a random legend in Apex Packs, there's a chance you can receive 150 Heirloom Shards instead. The amount of Heirloom Shards per Apex Pack does not vary, since they're distributed as three slots of 50 shards each.
