If you play Apex Legends, you probably know very well what we are on today. Heirlooms! The most desired cosmetics in the game, and the rarest (or incredibly expensive) items in the game. You can either get them by pursuing your RNG skills, either by paying half a salary for it. In any case, we are going to breakdown all the possible ways to get an Heirloom, their drop chance, and their release info.

About The Heirloom
Heirloom is a cosmetic that can be used as a melee weapon, but it doesn’t add any additional damage to the standard melee attack. The first Heirloom ever released was Wraith’s Kunai, right after the launch, and it is still the most desirable one from the community. Lifeline’s, Pathfinder’s, and Octane’s Heirlooms were released in said order.
Heirlooms’ cool animations on the attacks and inspections were enough to get a player to be obsessed about having his favorite Heirloom, and of course, streamers did a very good job of giving the Heirloom’s the prestige of a player that has invested time and money in the game. Besides the Heirloom, you will also get an exclusive Intro Quip and a Banner for the Legend you got the Heirloom for.
How To Get An Heirloom & The Drop Rate
Unfortunately, in the early days of Apex Legends, you couldn’t get to choose which Heirloom you get, as it was fully randomized. Especially after the addition of the rest of the Heirlooms, players were scared that they might earn an Heirloom they don’t want.
Wraith’s Kunai was the only Heirloom that was never obtainable through an event. All the other Heirlooms that followed were obtainable through the event that they were introduced in, but it was pretty expensive to get them, as you had to purchase all the event’s items before you unlock the Heirloom, which cost even more. This system got players really mad and forced Respawn to follow a new path.
Thankfully Respawn introduced the Heirloom Shards, during the Override Collection Event. As of March 3d of 2020, Heirlooms are no longer random to obtain, and they were replaced by Heirloom Shards. Heirloom shards can be found only in Apex Packs, and it is the only currency that you can use to unlock the Heirloom of your choice, in the “Heirloom Store”.
Again, you could also get Heirlooms during the events, but later on, you would instantly unlock it after the purchase of all the event’s items. This system got the player base half-pleased, and up ’till now they kept this system for Heirlooms.
The chance of getting an Heirloom is 0.2%, but there is also a “pity” system, where if you don’t get it by the 500th pack, you will get one in the next pack 100%.
You get 3 sets of 50 Heirloom Shards (150 in total), which is exactly the cost of an Heirloom Set.
