What is the minimum count for KMS server? ›

Clients will activate if the count is 25 or higher. Servers and volume editions of Microsoft Office products will activate if the count is five or greater. The KMS only counts unique connections from the past 30 days, and only stores the 50 most recent contacts.

Activation servers (KMS) through an organization or educational institution is legal, and should be used for those intents and purposes.

Key Management Service activation renewal

By default, KMS client computers attempt to renew their activation every seven days. If KMS activation fails, the client computer retries every two hours.

A KMS Key is used to activate the KMS host computer with a Microsoft activation server and can activate up to six KMS hosts with 10 activations per host. Each KMS host can activate an unlimited number of computers.

A KMS host that is running Windows 10 can activate only computers running Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista. A single KMS host can support unlimited numbers of KMS clients, but Microsoft recommends deploying a minimum of two KMS hosts for failover purposes.

We recommend only having a single KMS host for both Windows and Office. Having more than one KMS host on a network is not necessary and it adds more administration work to implement. The additional work involves preparing DNS to let multiple computers manage _VLMCS records.

Why we don't recommend it. Hack tools can be qualified as riskware, a category of software that may be risky to install on your computer or device. This is because a legitimate copy of the software may be bundled with adware, or it's actually malware named after popular software. Such is the case for KMSPico.

Systems will automatically renew the lease every 7 days by contacting the KMS. Systems without a valid lease will contact the KMS more frequently (every 2 hours). Systems can remain activated for up to 180 days without needing to re-contact the KMS.

According to the Microsoft article: Understanding KMS, in the KMS Activation Renewal section, it states that "KMS activations are valid for 180 days—the activation validity interval. To remain activated, KMS client computers must renew their activation by connecting to the KMS host at least once every 180 days.".

You may set an expiration period for an imported key. AWS KMS will automatically delete the key material after the expiration period.

How do I see all licenses on KMS server? ›

Run the following command line on the KMS server to retrieve all installed licences : cscript c:\windows\system32\slmgr. vbs /dli all >> c:\temp\KMS. log.

Event Viewer for KMS Activation

You can see all activation requests that goes to this KMS server in the Event Viewer of the KMS server. On the client, you can also use Event Viewer to see activation requests : Open Event Viewer / Application Logs. Looking for events number 12288 and 12289.
