How do we Activate non Domain joined Windows KMS clients against a KMS host?

To my knowledge, KMS does not enforce domain membership. When a KMS client comes online, it asks DNS for a SRV record that points to the KMS server. Unless you have some restrictions in place, it should activate. What sort of clients are you trying to activate? Volume? Retail?
