Can you link a project online with Planner? ›

Individual Planner plans in an organization's account can be linked to projects in the Project Online instance the organization provides by setting a one-way linkage. You can also import data from Planner into Project Online automatically.

We remain deeply committed to providing the full support you need and expect, so you can continue to use and invest with confidence in Microsoft Project. There is no date to limit the functionality of Project Online at this time, but we encourage customers to plan their transition as soon as possible.

Project Online allows your resources to interact and track time against the tasks that they are assigned. By using Planner, you can invite team members within your organization (or outside of your organization using O 365's Guest Access features).

The current Tasks by Planner and To Do app in Teams will be renamed to Planner. Microsoft Project for the web will be renamed to Planner as part of the Premium experiences. Later in 2024: The web experience of the new Planner will be generally available.

Add the Planner app

There are several ways to add an app to Microsoft Teams. The simplest way is to select View more apps, search for Planner in the search bar, and then select Add. Tip: To pin the app for easy access, right click on Planner after adding the app and select Pin.

Overall, Project for the Web has a more modern, flexible architecture, with a focus on agility and adaptability. Project Online, on the other hand, has a more traditional architecture, with a focus on hierarchical project management and integration with SharePoint Online.

Short Answer: No, Microsoft Planner Doesn't Have Gantt Charts. It's a massive shortcoming that Microsoft Planner doesn't have a built-in Gantt chart feature.

It seems as though one can use power automate to import excel tasks into Planner. I used Copilot to create the automation.
