Can you get seed phrase from private key?
Yes, you can. Every wallet uses a private key to secure its assets which you can import into another app. Just look for the 12 word recovery phrase or mnemonic in the settings menu of your current wallet and then use that same 12 word phrase to sign into another app.
Private key is usually an access key to just one address (account), while seed phrase is an access key to the whole wallet, which can hold multiple addresses.

- Click the button again to hide the words.
How to get your FIO Private Key from a Seed Phrase - YouTube
With HD Wallets, a seed phrase is used to generate a master private key, which is then hashed with a predefined value to generate a set of unique addresses, along with a corresponding private key for each of them.
Generally, a seed phrase only works with the same wallet software that created it. If storing for a long period of time it's a good idea to write the name of the wallet too.
Thus, you only really need to manage a few seed phrases and that's only if you're using more than one wallet application or device. You can import these seed phrases into any other BIP 39 compliant wallet (and as many wallets as you want).
A recovery phrase is essentially a human-readable form of your crypto wallets' private keys and is usually displayed as a 12-word phrase.

Does MetaMask store private key?
While a Secret Recovery Phrase is used to create and restore your entire MetaMask Wallet, including all accounts created in that wallet, each account has its own private key. This key can be used to import that account, and that account only, into a different wallet.
The process of generating a seed phrase starts with generating random data, called entropy. The entropy is then run through a hashing function, specifically SHA256, to generate the checksum. Part of the checksum is then appended to the random data.
Each private key has a corresponding public key. Generally, the public key can be easily derived from the private key, but deriving the private key from the public key is computationally infeasible.
