By embedding a chart in a Word 2013 document, you're using the same engine on which Excel relies, so shifting the axis to the graph's center mirrors Excel’s procedure. In most cases, the horizontal axis anchors at zero, so plots below the axis are negative and those above the axis are positive. However, positioning the horizontal axis in the center similarly displays plots against a target value, such as a control number or average.
Click "Axis Value" to allow manual control over the axis.

Enter the number you wish to use for the axis in the field provided. To ensure the axis is in the center of the graph, subtract the minimum value listed in the Bounds section from the maximum value and then divide by two; add this figure to the minimum value to calculate the center value. For example, if the minimum and maximum values were "2" and "5.5," subtract 2 from 5.5 and divide by 2. Add the resulting 1.75 to 2 to calculate the center value of 3.75. Moving the axis to the center also shifts the label to the center, so you might need to reposition the label.

Click the label on the horizontal axis and expand "Labels" from the Format Axis sidebar. Click the "Label Position" drop-down menu and select "Low" to move the label to the bottom of the chart. Alternatively, select "High" to move it to the top or "None" to remove it entirely.

Click the "X" at the top right of the Format Axis sidebar to close it.
Tip You can also change the horizontal alignment of axis labels, by clicking the axis, and then click Align Left , Center , or Align Right on the Home toolbar.
The point at the very middle of the graph is called the origin, and its coordinates are (0, 0), because it's 0 units away from the center of the graph in both directions. If we draw a line on the graph, sometimes the line crosses either the x-axis or the y-axis.
Right-click the category axis labels you want to format, and click Font. On the Font tab, choose the formatting options you want. On the Character Spacing tab, choose the spacing options you want.
Right-click the category labels to change, and click Select Data. In Horizontal (Category) Axis Labels, click Edit. In Axis label range, enter the labels you want to use, separated by commas. For example, type Quarter 1,Quarter 2,Quarter 3,Quarter 4.
To label your graph's x- and y-axes, select Axis Titles from the Chart Layout tab, and then select how you'd like your Horizontal Axis Title and Vertical Axis Title to appear. (For our example, we chose Title Below Axis for our horizontal axis and Rotated Title for our vertical axis.)
