According to the US government, around five million seniors receive financial assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to cover their basic nutritional needs.

Senior households can have up to $4,250 in countable resources and still be eligible for SNAP benefits if at least one or more members are over 60. While there are other restrictions, the maximum monthly benefits typically exceed $240 per household and vary based on household size
