Why won't it let me use my Amazon gift card? ›

Your Gift Card was applied to the wrong account

When redeeming a gift card, ensure that you're logged into the correct account. Amazon.com Gift Cards can only be redeemed at Amazon.com. Once redeemed, your Amazon.com Gift Card balance can't be transferred between accounts, or to an Amazon store in a different country.

The odds of guessing an Amazon gift card code correctly are extremely low. Amazon gift card codes are typically randomly generated alphanumeric codes with a combination of letters and numbers. The codes are usually 16 characters long, and the possible combinations are enormous.

If your order total is more than your gift card balance, we'll charge the remaining amount to your default payment method. Often you may use Amazon Gift Cards as a partial form of payment for an item.

Unused Amazon gift card codes will remain valid until they are redeemed or until they expire. If the gift card code has not been redeemed and the expiration date has passed, the code is no longer valid and cannot be used. Amazon gift cards expire one year after purchase.

Have you exceeded your credit limit? Did you enter your credit card number, credit card expiration date, billing address, and phone number correctly in Your Account? Is your purchase outside of your normal spending range? Some banks will block transactions due to security concerns.

To redeem your Amazon gift card go to Redeem a Gift Card and sign in to your account. Enter your claim code and click Apply to Your Balance . When you redeem an Amazon.com Gift Card or gift voucher to your account, the funds are stored in Your Account and will automatically apply to your next eligible order.

The “Invalid Code” error appears when you have typed an incorrect code. However, on some rare occasions, the code is correct and it still gives an invalid response. After you have confirmed that you didn't type the wrong code, contact Amazon support with the details of the gift card and the receipt for a resolution.

A: If you send the "code" directly through Amazon, they should just see that "someone" has sent you a gift card. (i.e. the someone being the name you choose to use). The receiver will see no email address or any other information.

The Luhn formula can also be used with gift cards, where a gift card code is generated with a random number and a checksum is associated with it. The gift card code is stored in a database with its associated data.

You can order up to 400 Email and Print at Home gift cards or up to 250 physical Amazon gift cards on the same order. Purchases of gift cards from Amazon.com and its affiliated websites are limited to up to $10,000 for any customer in a single day.

Can you use only part of your Amazon gift card balance? ›

Amazon will prompt you to enter the amount you want to use from the gift card. Enter the amount you wish to pay with the gift card. It can be the total amount or a partial payment.

The expiry date of your Gift Card balance can be tracked from Your Transactions. We will also send multiple reminder notifications before the expiry date of your Gift Card balance.

Unfortunately, Amazon does not provide a way for you to find out who redeemed your Amazon gift card.

If you receive this message, the gift card has already been applied to your account, or to another account. To verify that the funds are already in your account, go to Your Gift Card Balance. After you redeem the gift card on our site, we'll keep the balance in your account for use on future purchases.

You can resend each gift card up to five times. Note: If you don't see a Resend link, the recipient has probably redeemed the gift card.

The most common reasons are that the card hasn't been activated, the cashier is running the wrong type of transaction, the dollar amount being charged is greater than the card's balance or the credit card processing machine is bumping up the charge amount to either place a hold on the card or to allow for a gratuity.

If your Amazon gift card balance is on hold, you should contact Amazon customer support immediately. They will be able to provide you with more information on why your balance is on hold and what steps you can take to unlock it.

Amazon may place a hold on your Visa gift card balance to ensure that it is valid. This hold typically amounts to $1, but the transaction will fail if the remaining balance on your gift card is less than $1. In this case, you will need to add another payment method to complete the purchase.

Confirm you entered the code exactly as it is shown in Your Orders. Confirm you have a stable Internet connection. Confirm that your antivirus, firewall, or network settings aren't blocking the item's server or service provider. If your code still isn't working, contact the product publisher or service provider.
