Whether there's a coin collector in your family, or whether you always hold on to loose change, there's a chance you could have one of these exceptionally unique pieces. Some are even worth up to $15,000!
While, admittedly, these coins are pretty unusual to come across, there's no harm in double-checking your change, right?
Edward VII Gold Specimen Sovereign
The Cost: $15,000
The Details: According to Heritage Auctions, this Edward VII gold coin was produced to commemorate the opening of the Ottawa mint, back in 1908. It's "desirable in any condition" because it's so rare, and if you have one lying around, you could get as much as $15,000 for it. Cha-ching!
Victoria 25 Cents 1892
The Cost: Up to $8,000
The Details: This piece is estimated to be worth somewhere between $6,000 and $8,000, which is pretty impressive for a 25 cent coin! If you have one in your piggy bank, carefully check its condition. You'll get more for it if it's in good shape.
George V Specimen Dollar 1935
The Cost: Up to $7,000
The Details: This coin was created in 1935 to commemorate the 25th year of George V's reign. Heritage Auctions says this "extremely rare" piece is valued at around $7,000 in the right condition. Check your great-grandparents' house!
Edward VII 25 Cents 1905
The Cost: Up to $4,000
The Details: This Canadian coin from back in 1905 could be worth up to $4,000 if you've got one somewhere. It's very old and significantly rare though, so you'd be lucky to find this one down the back of your couch!
George VI Specimen Dollar 1948

The Cost: At least $2,700
The Details: This 1948 coin featuring George VI was given a price estimate of between $2,000 and $2,500 by Heritage Auctions. However, the current bid on this piece is $2,700, so you can expect to make a pretty good profit on it if you ever come across one.
Elizabeth II Prooflike "Shoulder Fold" Dollar 1953
The Cost: At least $1,500
The Details: This shiny silver piece, created by the Royal Canadian Mint, features Elizabeth II. The one listed by Heritage Auctions is valued at $1,550 at least, thanks in particular to its excellent condition.
George V Gold 10 Dollars 1914
The Cost: Up to $2,000
The Details: This "shimmering gem" of a piece was created by the Ottawa Mint in 1914. The 10-dollar piece features George V and is apparently worth up to $2,000 if you can get your hands on one.
