In the Bloomberg Terminal, FLDS will show the different fields for a given ticker, and will indicate whether the field is for reference data or market data. For example, the reference data field for the last price is PX_LAST , whereas the market data field for the last price is LAST_PRICE .
For instance, PX_LAST is the data field used to get the last price provided by the exchange while the YLD_YTM_MID field provides the yield of a bond based on its Mid price. Use the FLDS function on the terminal to find a data field mnemonic as well as all details available on a given data field.
PX is often used as an abbreviation for price in Bloomberg. Fields prefixed with PX are generally static fields: the value is requested only once and is based on whatever information is available when you send that request.
