What does a 250 on ACCUPLACER mean?
HIGH: High Accuplacer scores are generally 270 points and above. AVERAGE: Scores of 221 to 250 are average, while scores between 250 and 270 are normally considered above average. Accuplacer Scoring Video.
Classic Accuplacer Test:
Passing score for Arithmetic is 77. Passing score for Algebra is 76. Passing score for English Basic Skills (EBS) is 250 total of the three English tests. Multiply the Essay score by 15 and then add the three scores together.
Accuplacer Mathematics Scores
Scores of about 230 or 253 on a Math exam may be necessary to attend college-level math courses at schools that use the Accuplacer Math tests. Based on your test results, colleges will place you in an appropriately leveled math class.

Accuplacer Scores – Ranges

An ALEKS Assessment Score of 30 or higher indicates adequate preparation for most general education mathematics or statistics courses.
The Reading, Writing, and Math Accuplacer tests have a score range of 200 to 300. The WritePlacer Essay has a score from 1 to 8. The WritePlacer Essay ESL has a score from 1 to 6. The ESL Accuplacer tests have a score range from 20 to 120.
Although it is possible to score as high as 265 or more on the reading test and 285 or more on the math test, 240 (reading) and 250 (math) are typical top scores.

What happens if you score low on ACCUPLACER?
If your score is 350 or lower, you may be placed in a developmental course or intervention. If you score in the range of 342–350 or ABE Diagnostic level 5/6, you may be placed in a college course while taking a developmental education course/intervention at the same time.
Unlike other standardized tests, the ACCUPLACER does not typically have any bearing on a student's admission to a college. Rather, the ACCUPLACER gauges students' knowledge in various subjects so that they can be placed in courses that will best support their learning.
Placement tests are used to determine the academic skills of entering students. Based on the test results, the students will be placed in the classes that best match their current skills. Low test scores may mean taking developmental courses to improve your academic skills.
A 19 ACT score doesn't make you a competitive applicant at many colleges, but it does still make you eligible to apply to a handful. Looking at this from another angle, a 19 SAT score puts you at the 44th percentile, meaning you scored higher than 44% of test takers — which is nothing to turn up your nose at!
Less selective institutions tend to accept scores closer to the national average (21), whereas more competitive universities often prefer scores in the 32-36 range.
Both the Classic and new tests use a 100 point scale but the range for Next Generation is from 200-300. Note that there is no change to WritePlacer which may be used in conjunction with Next- Generation multiple choice tests. We will begin by reviewing the Next Generation Reading and Writing tests.
Reading, Writing, and Math Tests
ACCUPLACER Reading, Writing, Quantitative Reasoning and Statistics, and Advanced Algebra and Functions tests each have a score range of 200–300.
These tests are designed to assess how you place, rather than eliminate you from a course or program. This is why you do not have to take them before you're admitted to your program of choice. That said, avoid underestimating the importance of the math placement tests.
Your college math placement test scores may show you need a semester of remediation before entering a typical first-year class. Remediation helps prepare you for future academic success. On the flip side, a high score could let you skip a first-year English or math class.

Is 200 a good score in MAP test?
Commonly Used Terms for the MAP Reports
RIT scores range between approximatively 100 and 350. Most students reach RIT scores between 180 and 200 in third grade at age 8/9 and then progress to scores ranging from 220 to 260 by the time they reach high school.
The process begins with a qualifying Fall MAP score of 90% or higher. In 1st and 2nd grade Winter MAP scores can be used as well. Spring scores are never utilized for gifted identification. Renzulli and GES are teacher rating scales.
MAP test performance is described by a number called a RIT score which has a range from 95 – 300. The scores are not specific to a grade level but are continuous making it possible to use RIT scores to follow a student's educational growth from year to year.

How long are ACCUPLACER scores valid?
When do my ACCUPLACER results expire? All developmental reading, math, writing and ESL course placements are valid for one year from the date of assessment. College level placements in reading, math and writing are valid for three years from the date of assessment.
While some students may find such tests easy and trouble-free, others are said to have a hard time handling and dealing with them. If you belong to the latter group, you might need simple yet highly effective hacks to ace your exam.
Although college admissions officers often say that they give much more weight to a student's GPA, even they will admit that your ACT score is of considerable importance. Here's what they won't tell you: your ACT is often more important than your high school grades!
Overall, my research so far has been surprising in that there are a few schools that will offer full-tuition scholarships starting in the 22 – 25 ACT range, but most full-ride scholarships require a 28 ACT or higher.
A 22 is a decent score and it isn't going to hinder your college application unless you're applying to selective or very selective institutions. If none of those are on your radar, the primary reason to consider retaking the ACT would be to increase your odds of receiving merit aid.
Even though Harvard likely says they have no minimum ACT requirement, if you apply with a 33 or below, you'll have a very hard time getting in, unless you have something else very impressive in your application. There are so many applicants scoring 34 and above that a 33 will look academically weak.

Is a 4 a good Writeplacer score?
A high school GPA of 2.6-2.99 or a score of “4” on the Writeplacer or ENG Department Writing Sample Test means that you are able to take ENG 1010 but that you will need additional support to succeed in this class. Carefully review the two options below and choose the one that best meets your needs.
