Is Ra the most important god?
According to scholar Richard H. Wilkinson, Ra is "arguably Egypt's most important deity" not only because of his association with the life-giving sun but also through his influence on the development of later gods (205).
Ra was the king of the deities and the father of all creation. He was the patron of the sun, heaven, kingship, power, and light. He was not only the deity who governed the actions of the sun, he could also be the physical sun itself, as well as the day.
Since the people regarded Ra as a principal god, creator of the universe and the source of life, he had a strong influence on them, which led to him being one of the most worshiped of all the Egyptian gods and even considered King of the Gods.
Powers and Abilities. As one of the first gods, Ra is an immensely powerful entity in his own right, as he took on the duty of fighting off Apophis night after night for all eternity. He is the oldest and most powerful God in the film, with only the demonic beast Apophis being his rival.
