Numbers between 1-4 are rounded down while 5-9 are rounded up. If your professor decides to round off final grades, expect 89.4 to be 89.0 while 89.5 to round up to 90. It is just the basic concept of significant digits, no way for your professor would decide to round off a 0.4 to 1 on a good day.
An A+ letter grade is equivalent to a 4.0 GPA, or Grade Point Average, on a 4.0 GPA scale, and a percentage grade of 97–100.
B+, B, B- indicates good performance. C+, C, C- indicates satisfactory performance. D+, D, D- indicates less than satisfactory performance.
While professors control where each plus or minus cut off begins, a typical grading scale, the one I will use throughout this article, follows this pattern: A = 100-93, A- = 92.9-90, B+ = 89.9-87, B = 86.9-83 and so on.
A - is the highest grade you can receive on an assignment, and it's between 90% and 100% B - is still a pretty good grade! This is an above-average score, between 80% and 89%
Thus, an A is a 95, halfway between 90 and 100. An A- is a 91.25, halfway between 90 and 92.5.
If it doesn't say anything abour rounding in the syllabus, and it doesn't specify grades to the first decimal place, it should be expected that percentages will be rounded to the nearest whole number. If 90% is an A, 89.5 is an A; 89.4 is a B, because it rounds to 89.
With this setting, an 89.55% is rounded to 89.6%, and an 89.96% is rounded to 90%. DOWN to next whole number: This setting rounds the student's average down to the next whole number. With this setting, an 89.9% is rounded to 89%.

Is a 2.25 GPA good in college?
Having a 2.5 GPA means you're still below average and this can greatly hinder your application into college. All is not lost though, you just have to work extra hard for the rest of this year and next year to increase your GPA to at least a 2.0 and above.
Is a 2.5 GPA good? A 2.5 GPA means that you've earned high Cs and low Bs across all of your classes. This GPA is below the 3.0 national average for high school students, and it will most likely make it difficult for you to get into all but the least selective colleges. 2.12% of schools have an average GPA below a 2.5.
A 2.5 GPA corresponds to a C average, making it a common starting GPA for many colleges and universities, even some more competitive institutions — though acceptance at that level would be a long shot.
In the 1930s, as the letter-based grading system grew more and more popular, many schools began omitting E in fear that students and parents may misinterpret it as standing for “excellent.” Thus resulting in the A, B, C, D, and F grading system.

Is an A still straight A's?
In order to get an A and not an A-, you need to achieve a grade of 93 or higher. An A- is within the range of a 90 to a 92.5. Most teachers will be nice enough to round your 92.5 or above to a 93, which would give you the complete A.

If you are hoping for an 89.5%, an 89.9%, or even an 89.1% to be rounded to an 'A,' simply ask your teacher if they have a policy for rounding up to the next integer (whole number). This opens the door for the teacher to “round up” your grade, without looking like you are grade grubbing.

What Does a B+ Grade Mean? B+ is a good high school grade. As a matter of fact, it's an above-average high school grade. B+ is equivalent to 87% to 89%.

You may feel that your score is low relative to the scores that your target school looks for. But your GPA may not be so low in general. Highly selective colleges generally consider 3.5 to be on the low end. Many other schools consider low GPA scores to be in the 2.0 range.
What's the perfect GPA?
Unweighted 4.0 GPA Scale
Essentially, the highest GPA you can earn is a 4.0, which indicates an A average in all of your classes. A 3.0 would indicate a B average, a 2.0 a C average, a 1.0 a D, and a 0.0 an F. This scale does not take the levels of your courses into account.
Is a 1.5 GPA good? The answer is No. The national average for a GPA is around 3.0 and a 1.5 GPA puts you below that average. A 1.5 GPA means that you've gotten only C-s and D+s in your high school classes so far.
A: Some elite employers have policies requiring a certain GPA (usually a 3.0 or higher), and there is generally no way around that rule. To get a job with one of the gazillions of other employers in the world, a low GPA is a completely surmountable challenge.
A 2.3 GPA is significantly lower than the national average of 3.0. However, it's still deemed low, even though it's redeemable. For High School Students: With a 2.3 GPA, schools are unlikely to accept your application.
At most high schools, this means that the highest GPA you can get is a 5.0. A 4.5 GPA indicates that you're in very good shape for college. You're most likely in high level classes earning As and high Bs. 99.74% of schools have an average GPA below a 4.5.
Considering it's highest possible unweighted GPA, it's a safe bet to say, yes, a 4.0 is a good GPA. The average high school student graduates with a 3.0, so earning a 4.0 is an outstanding achievement.
