Is there a limit of mercenaries Assassin's Creed Odyssey?
Similar to the Nemesis System, Mercenaries are infinite in number and variety. In addition to its transition into a full-fleged RPG, Assassin's Creed Odyssey is introducing multiple revamped mechanics systems, from its signature naval combat to the ever-changing world of Ancient Greece.
The mercenaries are divided into nine tiers. You start your way off from Tier 9 and by killing each one you encounter you climb the ranks. Each rank presents a higher difficulty as the NPCs will become stronger, higher levels and better trained. Your ultimate goal is to climb all the way up to Tier 1.

To reach the top tier, you must defeat 52 higher ranking mercenaries. Each fallen mercenary will be replaced by another keen bounty hunter within 10 - 15 minutes.

Kassandra and Alexios talk tough when they're on Kephallonia, but when you start the game, you're the lowest ranking mercenary in Greece. It doesn't have to stay that way. There are nine tiers of mercenaries in Odyssey.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a long game, and reaching the max level of 99 can be a daunting task.
However, these will not be enough to fully upgrade a Mercenary. You need 475 Coins to fully upgrade one ability, so that's 1425 Coins to upgrade all three abilities of a single Mercenary. Some of the equipment can also be upgraded, and it costs 425 Coins to fully upgrade one piece of equipment.
1 Alexios: He Is The Popular Option

The Falx starts out with a twenty-five percent increase to assassin damage in addition to boosting your adrenaline gain on critical hits by forty percent. Its legendary engraving increases your damage by a ludicrous one hundred percent, basically doubling it.
