After the recent patch, Captain and Loader are without a doubt the best survivors in Risk of Rain 2. They are very independent of their gameplay and aren't affected by any sort of enemy. Both Captain and Loader are capable of winning games on their own.
The engineer is the best solo character in Risk of Rain 2 without a doubt. Because his turrets get all of his items, it is like having two extra yous sitting around.
The Crowbar is a returning item in Risk of Rain 2. When the holder attacks an enemy that has more than 90% of its health remaining, they deal 75% more damage (+75% per stack).

The 57 Leaf Clover adds one try per stack whenever an item tries to proc, increasing the chances to get a favorable outcome. This effect makes any items that have a chance to trigger more effective. These include critical hits, so scoring one becomes easier. Completing The Long Road Challenge unlocks this item.
