A keyless door saves you the hassleof exchanging keys in person. I automate all of my check-in and check-out processes.This is especially true for those who go down the business path of Airbnb Rental Arbitrage and aren’t necessarily local. This is why u need the best smart lock for Airbnb.
The conventional forms of a mechanical locking mechanism for doors have been categorized, cataloged, and listed online for almost every make and model available.
Having a standard lock doesn’t cut it these days. Ever had a key break in a lock? Not fun for everyone– guests included…

The Kwikset 907 Powerbolt 2.0 Electronic Deadbolt featuring Smartkey is small but mighty! For less than $60, this lock features a unique one-touch lock. No more fumbling for keys to lock and unlock the deadbolt!
This little keyless deadbolt has a built-in alarm system. After five bad tries, the alarm will sound and the deadbolt disables for 45 seconds.
For less than $60, this little deadbolt can provide up to six codes for guests (and yourself). You can even install it yourself! Perfect for the beginner Airbnb host who lives nearby.
The Verdict: This a basic keyless lock for the DIY Airbnb host.
- Pro: The one-touch locking system is nice! The six codes are nice for Airbnb that doesn’t receive a lot of foot traffic. Takes less than 15 minutes to install. It lights up in the dark! Still has a key slot for emergencies.
- Con: Not for Airbnb Arbitrage or the host that lives out of town. There is no app to know who is coming into the apartment when. No way to change codes unless you are there.
Best Keyless Door Locks #6: The Kwikset 916 Smartcode Touchscreen with Deadbolt
comes in 3 colors: gold, silver, and black
This easy to install lock is “Amazon Certified” and works with Alexa recognition for locking the door. (Although, an unlock feature has yet to be implemented.) Reviewers mention that the device has eaten batteries, but for the most part, the lock should stay powered between ten and twelve months.
The Kwikset 916 can is easily installed within minutes by just using a screwdriver and offers SmartKey re-key technology. Wireless communication to the device allows you to set up unique codes for your Airbnb visitors as well as receive security updates about the device.
With a Z-Wave lock you know who is coming and going in and out of the house, have 30+ unique codes to hand out to visitors and activate them at different times, as well as turn off specific passwords at any time.
Final Verdict: An Easy to Install and Program Battery Eater.
This lock is great for ease of use, but hosts should be concerned with some of the battery problems mentioned. This is especially true for any long-distance hosts and hosts without the ability to check on the battery every few weeks. The application can quickly improve by reporting to the host the battery life of the lock.
Overall the Z-Wave deadbolt for the Kwikset has one of the most customizable and extensive programming systems that I’ve come across. The ability to program specific keycodes for guests and disable the code after their departure time is invaluable. It has definitely earned its spot on the best keyless door locks list.

Best Keyless Door Locks #5: Schlage Camelot Keypad Entry With Flex-Lock
Comes in 3 different nickel finishes, Bright Brass, Antique Pewter, Antique Brass, and Aged Bronze.
This popular choice for an Airbnb.The Schlage Camelot Keypad Entry with Flex-lock has a nine-digit keypad, a primary lock emergency lock for the host, and a lever. It’s known for exceptional battery life and Flex-Lock ability.
Flex-Lock allows Airbnb hosts or guests to enable and disable the automatic locking system. This lets guests keep the door unlocked for bringing in their luggage, groceries, or having the kids go outside and play.
Pro-tip: I program the last 4 digits of my guest’s phone number as their passcode. For example: if their number ends in 2231, their passcode is 2231. This works well with international guests as well.
The downside to the system is that some users have reported difficulty if knowing the system is in automatic lock mode. There is no indicator on the lock itself that tells the guest if the door has been locked or not. However, this can be easily fixed by testing out the lock itself, so we’re keeping it on the best keyless door locks list.
The keypad can hold up to nineteen unique entry codes and allows the host for key entry in the event of a battery failure or emergency. This emergency key entry is surprisingly what a lot of battery-powered locks lack.
Final Verdict: Is… it locked?
It’s a little concerning how many users reported the inability to tell when the flex-lock for this device was active. Besides these reports, if not messing with anything other than the keypad, this device is a great middle price range option.
You’d be hard-pressed to find something this affordable with still a lot of programmable options. Being able to use a variety of codes can allow multiple groups to have a code at one time.

Add the app for this lock to your phone and control your codes. Decide whether your guests need codes or Bluetooth e-keys! Both provide options on how you want to run your Airbnb Arbitrage and how guests can enter.
With up to 50 user codes, you can delete or add users from the app. From the one-time use codes, allow packages to be delivered and service workers in! All without being there!
You’ll appreciate the feature of knowing who enters your apartment when with the different access codes! This is all saved in the history section on the app.

- Pro: The ekeys and immediate codes are such a lifesaver. Up to 50 access codes. Bluetooth keys. Keypad lights up. The history section on the app is useful in case of any theft! One time codes are great for packages and cleaning crews.
- Cons: No idea about battery life.

This lock scrambles the outside pin pad so onlookers can never guess your code. What’s better is you can unlock it with Bluetooth when you visit! So you don’t have to remember the code!
A feature I personally like is that it updates over wifi to prevent any sort of hacking. This company keeps up with the security even after you bought it! Keeps your codes and property safe from smart hackers.
Also, decide if your door remembers to lock for you after five seconds or more from the app. Nosy? Know who accessed your property and when- it’s stored in the app.
While this Bluetooth lock is all about being prepared for the future, it still features keys. Perfect for emergencies!
Final Verdict: Works with any doorknob… just add doorknob.
- Pro: Appreciate the changing pin pad to prevent onlookers from knowing too much. Touch to lock. Can also change when it locks- while you’re inside. The app is for Android and iOS. Perfect for Airbnb arbitrage. Love the expiring codes for guests. Works up to -20 ° F.

Since this device will not change the original hardware of the door, you can still use the unique key to enter the apartment or living space. It’s also perfect for any power outages that may happen while your renters are staying at your place.
Note:August lock has no key pad. Guests would need to download a mobile app in order to access the property. Even if this Keyless Door Lock is not as practical as the one with keypad, it is worth mention it.
Final Verdict: It’s Great When When It Works
If you happen to have a problem with this lock, unfortunately, the customer service for the product is notoriously bad. It’s on the higher end of the pricing spectrum, but it honestly does offer a lot of excellent services if you don’t wish to deal with the hassle of pushing in pin numbers.

- Cons: It’s expensive. You are paying through the nose for cutting edge technology. If you can live without the fingerprint scanner, try the SHS P717 version. It’ll save you about $100 but still impress guests. You need a professional to install it.
