I’m mad for a greenhouse, just not for the work. Wish I enjoyed that more! The Roosevelt greenhouse is undergoing renovations and will take most of a year to complete. Looking forward to seeing the progress. But nothing is sweeter than your first two. Thanks for the pingback! Jane

May 1, 2012 @ 3:11 amI too love a greenhouse. The first one is my favorite. (Although I wouldn’t want to throw any dirt around in there.) I’m adding another one that would work beautifully attached to a house. (Hopefully mine, someday.)
The Roosevelt estate is phenomenal. I love the kitchen…

I am so going to have a greenhouse one day!
I have fallen into the Alice-in-Wonderland hole that is your blog today and the hour I needed to spend making hypertufa pots for the garden club plant sale in 3 weeks has been consumed.
Loved reading all about your house and life! I am currently in a high rise in the DC area, but we spend our summers in the circa 1830 farm in NW New Jersey, where my husband grew up. One day we hope to live there full time. In the meantime, we have had the 1830’s bank barn rebuilt, restored, enlarged, and deer-fenced the vegetable garden, and are working on restoring the perennial gardens. Since my MIL still lives there 9 months of the year, our next big project is to renovate the guest house so that we can have a space to call our own for now.
I love seeing all you have done. You and Joan of For the Love of a House are my heroes!
I’ll be back another day!

And two hours away in Delaware… and probably is long gone, given the way free stuff doesn’t last… but I was excited for about 30 seconds! I’ll be surprised if the guy emails me back…
I was bummed you didn’t link your name to your blog… but then, kind of glad since an 1830’s farm would make me cry with envy… I have some kind of old-house fetish. (Clearly you do too.) And it’s combined with the dream that at some point I will live somewhere where I cannot see ANY of my neighbors. (We’ll probably have to move to Iowa to afford it…)
So nice to “meet” you!!!!

Until now I hadn’t thought we needed a potting shed/greenhouse. But having just read the post above and seen all those wonderful examples I think we do need one. We are planning on changing the backyard to a more Victorian garden and one of those examples would fit in very well. I’ll add it to our project list.
