Use, spend or waste? (2024)

More often than not do we manage our most precious assets. Recently, it came to my mind the concept behind the words use, waste and spend. As for the grammar, to use is connected to the idea of accomplishing and achieving something. The other two vary according to the “manner” or way of using.

The adverbs extravagantly and carelessly make the paramount difference between to use and to waste. If you use something carelessly you´re wasting it. To spend relates to using in order to benefit someone or something. Sometimes, using to exhaust is spending.

At the age of 40 one might begin to argue whether he´s using, wasting or spending his life. In every action you put your energy on, bare in mind the simple question: Am I using, wasting or spending this resource? Explore your attitude towards time, for instance. Time management has become a super villain that very little can defeat, these days. I,ve been queuing for 3 hours, waiting for my drivers license to be delivered. What have I done to an eight part of my precious day? I knew, beforehand, I´d have to wait. I decided to use my time working on my laptop connected to the internet. The idea of getting to a place and having to wait hours- not to lose my turn- was preposterous. I did all I could, including spending some time on this short article.

Hopefully, by the end today, it could be said nothing has been wasted. If only that could be true. Traffic will definitely waste a bit of my BTI which stands for Beauty Time and Intelligence. I just had to reschedule an appointment due to a last minute update. Nothing to be done about it. Now, I ask myself: Will I waste any of my energy on complaining? Maybe it´s good time to spend some thought on how tomorrow can be better. Definitely, I can shape my mood, my energy and utterly my time.

In business we say: It doesn't matter how much you make. What stirs your revenue is how much you spend. Waste shall vanish. Spending, reduced to exhaustion. Only then, will profits thrive. That endless game makes markets change, business models collapse and innovation to spring up. Time and money ought to be used, so does mind power.
