Stick deodorant is fine in any size. Well, almost any size… Powders and crystals are good to go as well. Spray, Gel, Liquid, Cream, Pastes, and Roll-On deodorants need to be in containers no larger than 3.4 ounces and placed in a clear quart-sized baggie.

When you're packing, remember to limit anything liquid-y to 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less and to place those items in a clear, quart-sized plastic bag, one bag per traveler. Think the usuals, like shampoo, toothpaste, and aerosol or roll-on liquid deodorant (solid deodorant isn't regulated by the 3-1-1 rule).

Aerosols and roll on deodorants are classed as liquids, so any containers larger than 100 ml will need to go in your luggage in the hold. Containers smaller than 100 ml are accepted if in a clear plastic bag.

Each passenger is limited to one quart-size bag of liquids, gels and aerosols. Common travel items that must comply with the 3-1-1 liquids rule include toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash and lotion.

Roll-on deodorants are a broad category and usually come either as liquids or gels. If a product is a liquid, gel, cream, or paste it's restricted! The general rule of thumb is that roll-ons are technically liquids, so they should be stored in small containers no larger than 3.4 ounces or 100 ml.

Chapstick, lipstick, and solid lip balms are not considered liquids by the TSA. They can be in your handbag, carry-on or hand luggage without being separated into your clear plastic liquids bag.

Lipsticks, lip balms and stick deodorants are not classed as liquids. Always check in any liquid over 100ml and if you're unsure whether an item will be allowed through, please always check it in with your hold luggage.

Pre-moistened wipes are allowed in carry-on luggage. They do not need to be placed in your travel-size liquids bag.

How many 3-ounce bottles can I carry on? You must be able to fit all your 3-ounce bottles into a 1-quart bag, which is 6 x 9 inches. This usually equates to nine bottles. FYI, you can use a Ziploc or anything that's about that size, but the TSA doesn't officially approve or disapprove of any bags.

Can I pack a razor in my carry-on? ›

Safety Razors: Because the razor blades are so easy to remove, safety razors are not permitted in your carry-on luggage with the blade. They're fine to pack in your carry-on without the blade. The blades must be stored in your checked luggage.

Firearms, ammunition, and fireworks are prohibited, as are all knives and safety razors (including pocket knives and Swiss Army knives). Straight razors and replacement blades for straight razors are also not allowed. Most tools also cannot be packed in carry-on luggage, as they have the potential to cause harm.

The TSA 3-1-1 Liquids Rule applies to your liquid makeup such as lip gloss, liquid foundation, etc. and must fit in a quart-sized bag. You can still bring solid makeup like lipstick, eyeshadow pallets, blushes, and powders in your carry-on luggage as well.

Not all makeup is the same. Mascara is considered a liquid; makeup wipes are not a liquid in TSA's rulebook.

Does vaseline count as a liquid? ›

Liquids include:

Creams, lotions and oils, including lipstick and Vaseline. Perfumes. Sprays. Gels, including hair and shower gels.

This means that you can carry up to 3.4oz or 100ml of liquid and is limited to 1 quart sized or 20x20cm see through plastic bag. Your perfume must fit into this bag, and it must be sealed or you will be denied entry with it. If you decide to bring a solid perfume, this does not count within your liquids allowance.

Not only will our shampoo bars and face wash bars make your suitcase lighter and more compact due to less packaging, but they are not liquid, so they are TSA-compliant.

Mascara is considered a liquid; makeup wipes are not a liquid in TSA's rulebook. Cream Blush – Cream blush is a liquid to TSA. Liquid Concealer – Liquid concealer is a liquid and must follow the 311 liquid rule. Lip Balm/Gloss/Lipstick – Lip balm/gloss/lipstick is not considered liquid.
