What does Trip Cancellation and Interruption cover?
In the event your trip is canceled or interrupted for a covered reason, you are able to receive reimbursem*nt for the related costs incurred. This benefit provides coverage in situations outside of your control that may, unfortunately, affect the trip.
This includes: if you fall ill or become injured before or during your trip; if your flight is canceled because of weather or another covered reason; or if there is a severe weather issue. When something goes wrong, Travelex’s Trip Cancellation and Interruption coverage can help offer the support you need.
Travel Basic’s eligible reasons for trip cancellation
If you purchase the Travel Basic plan, you are eligible to receive reimbursem*nt of 100% of your insured trip cost, up to $10,000, if you must cancel your trip for a covered reason. This includes - but is not limited to - cancellation because of any serious injury, death or sickness, inclement weather if it causes delay or cancellation of travel, you are called to active military service, and more.
If your trip is interrupted, you are covered for up to 100% of the trip cost with a maximum of $10,000 on the Travel Basic plan.
Travel Select’s eligible reasons for trip cancellation
With the Travel Select plan, you are able to receive reimbursem*nt for 100% of the insured trip cost up to a maximum of $50,000 in the event you must cancel your trip. You are eligible for coverage for all the reasons mentioned in the Travel Basic plan with the addition ofcancellation due to an impending hurricane, the trip’s destination is made uninhabitable due to severe weather, a terrorist incident in a city listed on your itinerary, the host at your trip’s destination becoming ill or injured, pregnancy, and more.
If your trip is interrupted, you are covered for up to 150% of the trip cost with a maximum of $75,000 on the Travel Select plan.
Travel America’s eligible reasons for trip cancellation
With the Travel America plan, you are able to receive reimbursem*nt for 100% of your prepaid, non-refundable insured trip cost up to $750 (shared across all insureds) in the event you have to cancel your trip for a covered reason. The covered reasons for trip cancellation are similar to Travel Select.
If your trip is interrupted, you are covered up to 150% of the insured trip cost up to $1,125 (shared across all insureds) with the Travel America plan.
Who can receive Trip Cancellation and Interruption coverage?
The Trip Cancellation and Interruption benefit is automatically provided to all travelers listed on the policy whether you buy the Travel Select, Travel Basic or Travel America plan. It is important to note that with Travel Basic and Travel Select, the benefits are provided per traveler. With Travel America, the benefits are shared among all travelers.
Which plans include the Trip Cancellation and Interruption benefit?
You can take advantage of this benefit on three of Travelex’s travel insurance plans: Travel Basic, Travel Select, and Travel America. If you choose to buy the Travel Med plan, only Trip Interruption coverage is included (not Trip Cancellation). If you opt to purchase either Flight Insure or Flight Insure Plus for your upcoming trip, Trip Cancellation and Interruption is not included as part of your policy.
Does this benefit differ from Cancel For Any Reason?
Yes, Cancel For Any Reason is an optional travel insurance upgrade only available with the Travel Select plan. The Cancel For Any Reason upgrade allows you to do exactly that: cancel for any reason - no questions asked! If you’re not 100% confident in your travel plans, the Cancel For Any Reason upgrade enables you to cancel an insured trip and receive up to 75% of the trip cost.
