What is the EU Green Bond Statement? ›

The EU plans to make green investments easier: the EU Green Bond Standard establishes clarity and comparability for sustainable bonds across Europe. Providers of these products must meet a number of requirements starting on 21 December 2024.

Greenwashing – making false or misleading claims about the green credentials of a company or financial product – is a major challenge for the market in green bonds and other sustainable investments. Regulators and the industry itself are working hard to address this issue.
