The best 8 survey sites to make extra money (2024 guide) - Bargain Mums (2024)

Survey sites have always been a popular way to make extra money. While they won’t make you rich, they are a great way to make a little extra money to go towards a few bills each month. The amount you can make pre hour might not be huge, but they are something you can easily do while you watch a bit of tv or wait for an appointment.

While it will take a little time, the best way to maximise your survey earnings is to sign up for multiple sites at once. Each site may only have a few surveys that your are suitable for each month,so becoming a member of several sites will increase the amount you can potentially earn. More memberships equals more surveys which equals more cash.

Check out our list of the best Australian cash back reward apps and sites to earn money by simply doing your online shopping as usual.

A few tips before you get started:

  • Set up a dedicated survey email address so that your regular email account isn’t bombarded with survey emails.
  • Don’t leave cash in your survey accounts. Cash it out as soon as you have enough points.
  • Don’t tell lies in an attempt to not get screened out of surveys. It’s always best to be truthful.
  • Don’t ever join a survey website that requests payment to join. Legitimate surveys sites are always free to join.
  • Be sure to refer friends. It’s a great way to boost your points.
  • Don’t worry about being screened out of surveys. It’s the sites way of testing for eligibility for surveys. As an example, there is little point in the survey site paying you for your opinions on different types of beer if you are not a beer drinker.
  • Sign up for a few different sites, then give them a try and decide which sites suit you best.

Ready to start earning a little extra income? Here are the 8 best survey sites.

1. Octopus Group Surveys

Octopus claim to offer the highest cash rewards in Australia. Octopus group are one of the only survey sites that pay your rewards in cash to your bank account, which means you can use the money for whatever you like. Many other survey sites only let you cash out rewards in the form of gift vouchers, which limits what you can do with the money.

2. Pure Profile

Pure Profile is my favourite survey site. It’s easy to use, and you can redeem money earned for rewards or cash transferred straight to your bank account. There are generally a good amount of surveys you can participate in, and the best bit is you get paid a small amount for each survey even if you are deemed not to be a match, with an even higher payment if you are matched to the survey.

The only downside is that while you there is no limit on how much you can earn from surveys, you can cash out a maximum of $50 every 60 days.

3. Purkle

Previously known as Nine Rewards, this site has just been renamed Purkle. You will need to answer a few minutes worth of questions when you sign up, but your account will be credited $1 just for completing the initial questions.

The only downside on Purkle is that money earned can only be spent on gift vouchers, rather than being credited to your bank account. Vouchers include Ticketek, Hoyts, JB HiFi, Magshop, iTunes and Woolworths. I always convert my earnings to Kmart gift vouchers, which lets me have guilt free Kmart splurge trips every month or two.

Rewards Centralallows you to earn points not only form surveys, but also by shopping online, visiting websites, referring friends and receiving email offers. You can convert points to cash transferred to your bank account, with 3500 points being worth $30.

Toluna give you the opportunity to earn points through surveys, as well as test and review physical products, which you get to keep. Points can be converted to cash, which is paid via PayPal.

My Opinions let’s you swap points earned from surveys for gift cards and vouchers that can be used at major retailers, such as Woolworths, JB HiFi and Myer. You can also earn points by referring friends.

7. Mint Surveys

Mint Surveys state the time a survey will take and how much you will be paid up front, so you can decide if the survey is worth your time before you begin. Even if you begin a survey only to be screened out, you will still receive 1 reward point for your time. You can then redeem points for a Coles Group & Myer gift card.

Sign up to Mint Surveys here.

8. Swagbucks

Swagbucks are a bit like Rewards Central in that you can earn points not only from surveys but also shopping online, watching videos and playing games. While you won’t earn enough to make a full time living, it’s a great way to earn a little extra spare cash if you have some spare time.
