SiS Support Tip - How to check if default port for report 8888 is open (2024)

Hi all,

When reports are not generating successfully, you may seereport window showing e.g.: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.

Check if port 8888 is open, which is the default port for reports since 10.x versions.

You can check if port 8888 is open on windows platforms with following commands:

Locally use netstat command netstat –an|find /i “listening” to check to see which ports are listening.

Remotely run telnet command telnet host port to see if the connection is refused, accepted, or timeouts.

On Unix platforms:

Use netstat command to see if the box has a listener on port 8888.Below is an example of an output of command netstat –tuplen:

(Not all processes could be identified, non-owned process info will not be shown, you would have to be root to see it all.)

You may also want to also check if the port is allowed in iptables. How?

Execute iptables –L command as root user. To check an specific port, run iptables -nL | grep <port number> command.

If you are not getting anything after excecutingcommand iptables -nL | grep <port number> the iptables in your system doesn't have any rules configured.

Hope this comes handy.
