Is there a limit on Airdropping photos? ›

Apple never specifies a limit on the number of photos you can transfer via AirDrop. You can transfer more than 25 photos using AirDrop at the same time. Theoretically, you can AirDrop as many photos as you like from one device to another.

With AirDrop, you can wirelessly send photos, videos, documents, and more to other nearby devices and Mac computers. Transfers are encrypted for security, and the recipient can accept or decline each transfer as it arrives.

The alert typically appears when you are attempting to send a significant amount of data. Although there is no limit to the size of the file sent via AirDrop, this solution is worth trying. Select one file at a time and try to AirDrop it to another device to get rid of the error warning.

There is an Options link at top of Airdrop, which has selection for "All Photos Data". The description states when selected videos will be sent in original quality. From what I have read elsewhere, it is believed that if you don't select this a 4K/60fps video for example will be sent and converted from HVEC to H. 264.

On iPhone, AirDrop files go to the app that is associated with their file type, like Photos or Notes. On Mac, AirDrop files always go to your Downloads folder.
