    What is CalFresh Expansion and What are the Benefits?

    CalFresh provides monthly food benefits to qualified seniors with low-income that prior to 2019 could not receive. The CalFresh program:

    • Is the largest food program in California and provides an essential hunger safety net
    • Provides economic benefits to communities
    • Can help buy nutritious foods for a better diet
    • Provides food benefits that can be used at grocery stores and farmers’ markets

    The CalFresh Expansion program provides much needed monthly food assistance to California seniors and economic benefit to local communities.

    The California Department of Aging works with 17 state-wide Area Agencies on Aging to help qualified seniors sign up for CalFresh Food benefits.
