Restricted Key System – TopLock (2024)

Please complete our Key Order Form here.

Restricted key systems carry a much higher level of security than standard lock and key systems, for a minorincrease in cost. The benefits of using a restricted key system include:

  • They are significantly harder for someone to pick the lock and gain unauthorised entry.
  • Keys will not be cut without your authorisation, so you have sole control as to who has keys.
  • Easily configured to a master key system where different keys access differing locks.
  • Facility to combine withkey managementfunctionality to further improve key control.
  • Complete audit capabilities.

A Long Term Investment in Your Security & Peace of Mind

Restricted key systems are not much more expensive than conventional locks and should be considered as a long term investment in your security. For example, below are indicative investments for lock cylinders:

  • Standard non-restricted key systems ~ $25 each (low security)
  • Inline 6 restricted key systems ~ $50 to $60 each (medium security)
  • BiLock restricted key systems ~$120 each (high security)

For an investment of somewhere between $35 to $95 per door you can achieve the biggest single improvement in security possible. It is important to remember these locks will typically last as long as you do in those premises, so their annualised cost is minuscule compared with the difference they make.

TopLock carries the following restricted key systems. The order below indicates our indicative ranking from highest to lowest security.

BiLock

BiLock is a high security restricted key system manufactured by Australian Lock Company.BiLock offers an innovative new design & twin bladed key which operate a 12 pin programme of tumbler pins – 6 on either side. These pins in turn activate 2 sidebars to provide the end-user with up to 17,000,000 possible lock combinations.

In addition to a space age element moving within the key, an extraordinary shaped, horizontally positioned security rod has been built into the cylinder to activate the 13th locking dimension. Without the moving element, this 13th dimension cannot be activated which adds yet another feature to BiLock’s exceptional level of quality.

The BiLock innovation has continued with the development of BiLock Quick Change Core or QCC. Now with QCC re-keying can be as simple as withdrawing a plug & replacing it with another in a matter of seconds.

The main features of BiLock QCC are:

  • Simplicity: Easy to use with minimum maintenance
  • Durability: Fewer moving parts & a stronger key
  • Tamper Resistance: A high level of pick resistance
  • Flexibility: Up to 17,000,000 combinations
  • Compatibility: BiLock New generation & BiLock QCC can retrofit almost all hardware
  • Cost Effectiveness: Competitively priced to install & maintain

Generation Six

Restricted Key System – TopLock (2)

Generation Six is a medium security Lockwood restricted key system manufactured by ASSA ABLOY. It is what is described as an inline six pin system, meaning the locking mechanism has 6 pins all in one straight line. Conventional key systems that come standard in most doors are inline five systems, meaning there is a slight increase in security because six pins are more difficult to pick than five. It is important to note that the primary increase in security stems from the restricted key duplication functions of restricted key systems.

Other Inline Six Pin Systems (Still Current)

Other Inline Six Pin Systems (Patent Expired)

JA, JB, JC, LG2 & BPA Series keys

These weremedium security restricted key systems, but as the patent has expired on them, they are considered low security key systems andoffer no security benefits over standard locks. Once the patent expires on a restricted key system it is no longer “restricted” which means that anyone can duplicate the keys without your authority, losing the protection of knowing who has keys to your locks.

The other problem with expired systems is that the manufacturer stops producing parts and key blanks for the lock system, making it more difficult to repair locks are parts become more difficult to source.

If you have an expired system and security is important to you, we would highly recommend you consider replacing your expired system with a current restricted key system.

GP1 & LA Series 6

These aremedium security restricted key systems with an inline six pin, meaning the locking mechanism has 6 pins all in one straight line. Conventional key systems that come standard in most doors are inline five systems, meaning there is a slight increase in security because six pins are more difficult to pick than five. It is important to note that the primary increase in security stems from the restricted key duplication functions of restricted key systems.
