Looks like there is a new Dimmi offer coming up. Post will be updated as soon as more information is available. Meanwhile, see below for the preview and T&Cs of the offer.

Dine in a new light
We’ve got a great offer coming soon starting 15 May. In the meantime, discover and easily book restaurants that
accept your American Express® Card.

Dimmi Offer

Offer valid at participating restaurants only, which are badged as “Amex Spend $50 get $20”.
Offer valid for bookings made between 15/05/2018 and 30/06/2018, or until 25,000 bookings have been allocated. Bookings must be made at dimmi.com.au/amex or via the Dimmi Android app and excludes bookings made via the Dimmi iPhone app. Any changes to your booking must be made via the Dimmi website.
You must log in and sync your eligible Card at dimmi.com.au/amex prior to booking and dining at the participating restaurant. Please note that if you previously synced a NAB, Westpac or ANZ issued American Express Card to your Dimmi account, you will need to re-sync a valid American Express Card to be eligible for the offer.
You must spend on your synced Card on the date specified on the booking, and only spend on the synced Card counts towards the offer.
Excludes transactions where you do not book directly with Dimmi at dimmi.com.au/amex or via the Dimmi Android app (such as bookings made directly with the restaurant or through another online booking site).
Credit is not redeemable for cash or other payment form.
Credit should appear on your billing statement within 5 business days from qualifying spend but may take up to 90 days from offer end date.
Credit will not be applied to your Account if it has been suspended or cancelled.
Credit may be reversed if your qualifying purchase is refunded or cancelled.

Sounds suspiciously Sydney only going by the 'dine in a new light' spiel (Vivid's coming up soon; the crowds eugh) but it seems like the entire country can participate going by last year's one

Well I guess it's worth going once just to say you've gone before. If you want to relive NYE crowds in June, come visit on the Queen's Birthday long weekend (better to visit on weeknights where it's less crowded)

There's also music and talks in addition to all the lights if you're into that sort of stuff

It is but the number of ppl attending has grown exponentially. On fri/sat nights you can't even get the train to the local train station (circular quay) because it's closed from THAT many ppl. U need to take a train to Wynyard and walk

But otherwise if u dont mind the crowds, yes it's worth checking out

From my experience last year, yes.

Only if the restaurant is participating in both the Amex deal and the 50% off deal.

Red Spice QV appears to have 30% and Amex deal.

I'd also like to know this. My assumption is that it will work because it's an Amex statement refund and it is seperate to the restaurant. As long as you spend $50+, you should get $20 back.

This is great for TGIF together with the 17-18 Ent Book deal with BOGOF (up yours 18-19 Ent Book)!

Last night had 2x Jack Daniels ribs, a pint of 150’s and one extra serve of JD sauce. Discounting the $20 credit and one meal free, total bill came to $31.90.

Last great TGIF meal to go out with a bang!

They changed the TGIF to something like 25% off total up to like $30 max.

Some of the other popular items they gave the chop or reduced the discount. Think Chemist Warehouse is something like 10% off egiftcard now too, instead of $10 off $50 spend.

I think its certain restaurants. When I click it says this amex offer can no longer be booked (after selecting a time and clicking book now).

After trying a few in the city it still let's me. But anywhere locally it shows the message.

To make sure go through to the page where you click the time and to the next page with the booking details, you'll see the explicit 'amex offer not available, click here to book normally' (its a white page with just that text) otherwise I think good to go

Deal limit not yet reached, used it again tonight.

So long as you book through the specific amex/dimmi deal link, system will confirm your booking in the usual way with a booking confirmation email (that doesn't mention the amex promo in any way). Then after you dine and pay with the synced amex card, you'll get an instant email from dimmi saying $20 on it's way (in my experience credit has shown up in my account after 2-3 days).

No, I think that AmEx restrict it to one offer redemption per booking, so as soon as you pay, the offer is "used up" at that restaurant. Sad because some split payments would be awesome!

      Hi, a bit slow on this. So the process is;
      1: save offer to Amex
2: sync Amex card to Dimmi
      3: book via Dimmi
4: pay with Amex card at restaurant
      5: $20 credit from Amex

      Did I miss anything?

No need to amend synced card. Original card stays synced, and is used for all subsequent bookings at participating restaurants. Deal can be used at same restaurants more than once

Will this stack on those x% discounts at venues? EG if a restaurant has a 30% offer, will that circumvent getting the $20 cash back?

It LOOKS like it stacks (but I haven't tested this). Eg Accessing Fratelli Fresh Sydney through the Amex list of restaurants shows it has various 50% off set meals via Dimmi. If you go to book those, it locks in the 50% off meal and the description of the Amex $20 cashback is still displayed as part of the booking, so providing your final bill is $50 or more, you SHOULD get the $20 cash bak. Please report back if you try this with success.

No issues with use of any in-house deals or other coupons or entertainment book vouchers etc that are not connected with Dimmi, as these just reduce the final bill for payment, and providing final bill is $50 or more, you'll get the $20 cash back (I and others above have tested this and works fine).

    FAQs

Why did AmEx give me a spending limit? ›

This can be due to a variety of factors such as credit score, past due payments with us or other creditors, or high balances on revolving credit accounts. If a preset spending limit is placed on your account, we will notify you, tell you why, and explain how it impacts how much you can spend.

How does statement credit work on AmEx? ›

A statement credit is money that a credit card issuer, like Discover or American Express, credits to your account. It's deducted from your card balance, but it won't count toward your minimum payment.

Is there a limit on how much you can spend on American Express? ›

Charge Cards come with no pre-set spending limit. However, no pre-set spending limit does not mean unlimited spending. Your purchasing power can adjust with your use of the Card, your payment history, credit record and financial resources known to us, and other factors.

Is AmEx credit limit unlimited? ›

No, American Express does not have an unlimited credit card. You will find some American Express cards with no preset spending limit, but that just means your spending limit is flexible and adapts based on your credit history and spending on the card.

Why did Amex lower my spending limit? ›

As outlined in the Fair Credit Reporting Act, credit card issuers have the right to lower credit limits at will and may do so when a cardholder appears to be in financial trouble. If you missed due dates or carry high debt and only send the minimum payments, the issuer may shorten the limit.

Why didn't Amex give me a spending limit? ›

No preset spending limit means the spending limit is flexible. In fact, unlike a traditional credit card with a set limit, the amount you can spend adapts based on factors such as your purchase, payment, and credit history.

Is it better to get a statement credit or cash back? ›

Cash back returns a percentage of your spending back which you can redeem for cash, which offers you flexibility in how you want to utilize that earned reward. Statement credits are directly applied to your outstanding balance and reduce the amount you owe. This can provide a convenient way of lowering your debt.

What does $100 statement credit mean? ›

A credit card statement credit is money credited to your credit card account. It is usually the result of a refund or it is earned as a reward, typically as a sign-up bonus or with a cash back rewards card. Credit card statement credits reduce the amount you owe without a payment from you.

What is considered eligible purchase for American Express? ›

Eligible Purchases include purchases made at American Express merchants and charged to an Eligible Card. Funds advances, fees, balance transfers, Amex cheques and charges for travellers cheques are not Eligible Purchases.

Can you buy a car with Amex Platinum? ›

Each participating Certified Dealer in the American Express Auto Purchasing Program will accept the American Express Card for at least $2,000 and up to the full purchase price.

Can you buy a house with Amex? ›

Absolutely not. Kipp says that this is one of the top misconceptions about the program. The only involvement from American Express is the bonus you get after closing; you aren't actually using your credit card to purchase the house, nor are you using it to pay any deposits, title costs or mortgage fees.

Is Amex Platinum hard to get? ›

To be eligible for the Amex Platinum Card® you'll typically need a good to excellent credit score. This makes it one of the more difficult cards to be approved for.

Does Amex increase credit limit automatically? ›

American Express will automatically increase the credit limit for eligible credit card accounts based on periodic account reviews that typically begin six months after an account is opened. Automatic credit limit increases are done at American Express's discretion, and there's no guarantee when one will occur.

What is the highest Amex limit? ›

There is no way to know how high American Express credit limits are as Amex doesn't disclose this information in their cards' terms and conditions. Your credit limit will depend on your credit history, debt level, income, and payment history on other American Express cards.

Which Amex gives the highest credit limit? ›

The Platinum Card from American Express offers the highest credit limit to applicants. It's important to note that American Express does not explicitly list either a minimum or maximum credit limit when outlining card details.

How do I remove the limit on Amex? ›

The drop-down menu will give you several options to search for Card Member accounts. Select an account from the search results. Once you reach the summary page of the selected account, click Manage Limits on the common actions. Modify temporary or permanent limit by selecting the preferred option.

Does Amex remove the preset spending limit? ›

Most credit cards establish your credit limit when you first apply, setting a maximum amount you can spend (or carry) on your card at any time. However, several American Express cards forego a traditional preset spending limit, potentially allowing you to spend more on a case-by-case basis.

How do I increase my Amex spending limit? ›

You can get an American Express credit limit increase by requesting one online or by calling either the number on the back of your card or (800) 528-4800.
