Webtoons are another avenue for you to find LGBTQ content to consume. From romance to fantasy, there’s a little bit of something for everyone from some of the most creative minds out there.

So check out our list of 7 LGBTQ+ webtoons you should be reading in 2021! And when you’re done make sure to tell your friends and show the authors some love. You never know what could happen if the attention they get is far and wide….maybe enough to get them a Netflix deal like the last favorite one on this list did…

1. Life Outside the Circle by H-P Lehkonen

Synopsis: The heartwarming tale of two men who find love in the Finnish countryside.

Why You Should Read: Hunky man moves to the countryside for a life of leisure of comfort. Things don’t turn out how he expected and he ends up meeting a cute guy who legit has sparkles around him the first time you see him. Could this be love? You bet your ass it is!

2. Mage & Demon Queen by Color_LES

Synopsis: Adventurers seek to take the demon queen’s head, but a love-struck young female mage wishes to take her hand. Join us won’t you, for this bawdy tale of love and persistence set inside a real-life RPG.

Why You Should Read: Things don’t go as expected in this tale of love, wooing, and adventure. A mage, who is totally obsessed with a demon queen, wants to basically take her out on a date. And the demon queen…well she’s kind of obsessed too but won’t admit it to anyone. Even herself.

3. Mr. Beta by Oh Sumaja

Synopsis: A beta writer find Muse inside his new alpha boss.. and writes a novel modeled after him! What would he do when he got found out?

Why You Should Read: Lovers of the omegaverse trope will fall for this twist of a story where it’s the beta and alpha you’re going to be swooning over. Special attention has to be given to the POV, sexy thoughts, and the way that the author seamlessly includes her stream of consciousness while supporting other authors.

4. Aerial Magic by walkingnorth

Synopsis: The daily life of an apprentice witch.

Why You Should Read: First of all, the artwork is stunning. Seriously, some of the most beautiful we’ve ever seen. Second, the music that accompanies it is so spot on and lovely that it makes everything 10 times better. And then there’s the meet cute between the apprentice and her boss. Definitely swoon worthy.

5. Acception by Colourbee

Synopsis: With his rainbow-colored hair and love of all things fashion, Arcus is anything BUT your average teenager. He’s an upbeat independent thinker, proud fashionista, and like the rest of us, is just looking for a few friends to call his own. Acception may be Arcus’ story – but it’s all OUR stories too – and it is for anyone who’s ever struggled to fit in, find love, or thought that High School was pretty much the worst thing ever invented.

Why You Should Read: The world created by Colourbee is the kind of highschool experience I wish I had. Screw convention or trying to fit in. It’s all about being yourself and having the guts to be unapologetically you like this main character is. Also, rainbow hair!

6. Always Human by walkingnorth

Synopsis: This is a story about nanobots, genetic engineering, and two girls falling in love. No matter how technology changes us, we’ll always be human.

Why You Should Read: Feels a little familiar? It’s because this author did such a good job that we couldn’t help but have her in this list twice! Come for the beautiful music and art and stay for the story of two girls falling in love in a world where tech is the name of the game and being yourself is more than acceptable. It’s welcome.

7. Heartstopper by Alice Oseman

Synopsis: Charlie, a highly-strung, openly gay over-thinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player, meet at a British all-boys grammar school. Friendship blooms quickly, but could there be something more…?

Why You Should Read: Besides the fact that this webtoon has been reportedly picked up by Netflix, it’s a cute, fun, and heartfelt story of love. Cheerful meets high-strung, giving us a combo like none this school has ever seen before. Plus hand holding, if the later issue covers are any indication. Swoooon.
