What is the 1.20 update for trails and tales? ›

The 1.20 update is all about self expression, specifically self expression through representation, story telling, and world building. And, it's the journey - your trails - that ties it all together. The Minecraft worlds belong to the players – and so do the stories, or tales, about those worlds.

We will get the Minecraft 1.20 Trails and Tales update in 2023, which includes the much-awaited archaeology features, two new mobs – camel and sniffer, a new biome, an armor and shield customization feature, and much more. You can scroll down and read more about all of the new features.

Trails & Tales is a major update released on June 7, 2023 as Java Edition 1.20 and Bedrock Edition 1.20.

Another brand new feature that arrived to Minecraft in Update 1.20 - Trails and Tales is Archeology. This allows you to dig Suspicious Sand and Suspicious Gravel and use the new Brush tool to find hidden treasures, including random objects and/or pottery shards.

Archeology ties together a lot of new aspects of Minecraft with the 1.20 update. Trails and Tales add the suspicious sand block type, a brush tool, and pottery shards to collect. These are important items to put together.

Once hatched, the Snifflet will grow into a Sniffer that will sniff the ground, and seek out plants and seeds, digging them up for you to collect. The Sniffer can even help discover seeds for brand new decorative plants, meaning this Mob's addition to the game will likely bring with it even more stuff to discover!

New confirmed mobs include the Breeze, Armadillo, and Bogged. There's also a new underground structure called Trial Chamber. New confirmed features include the crafter, trial spawner, trial key, the vault, wolf armor, mace weapon, wind charge and more.

The 1.20. 3 Patch for Minecraft Java Edition has arrived, bringing with it new functionality for Decorated Pots, a Bat redesign, and Shield improvements, among other bug fixes and updates.

Verdict. 'Trails & Tales', as far as recent Minecraft updates go, is perfectly passable. It does not aim to completely restructure entire parts of the game like 'The Nether Update' or 'The Update Aquatic' did, however, it is not light on additions either. What it introduces, it does well.

You can tell suspicious sand from the regular variety by a subtle difference in the texture. Suspicious sand has slightly darker spots on the surface, compared to regular sand which is one color.
