Need extra money before Christmas, there is only 2 months left.
Do you know that most of the working population in Canada and the US are spending close to 1000$. For the Christmas holidays, gifts, food,travelling and many more things. Budget is key here but making money to help us purchase and go through the holidays with a breeze is a must.
Some of us will budget like crazy to survive, others will ask mr.credit card for help. Lastly some peoples will be creative to a point, to surprise themselves of purchasing gifts with extra cash.
Take the opportunity to challenge yourself on not taking your credit card this year and use your own money for the holidays if possible.
Let see what are the best ways to make extra cash before Christmas.
Old vs New.
Why not sell some stuffs that you don’t use. Look around you and find any objects you may sell quickly…
- Electronics
- Furnitures
- jewelry (rings, watches, earings,…)
- garden tool
- carport ( Where winter is terrible)
- kitchen appliances
- and more…
In my book, selling electronics and furitures are the best one to go with.
Electronics
Choose a article that is in really good shape, make sure all components are in working order. See if there is any defects that need to be address or easily fixable.
Test the item before the sell, have good quality images, look for comparable online before the listing. Is the article really popular, it could be a quick sell. Having also a box really help to show the electronic was protected at all time. Customers like to see they are purchasing a item that was well taking care of.
Furnitures.
It could be difficult to sell furnitures online but the trick is to have amazing pictures with excellent description. Make sure to have as much info as possible.

- Protection (Spray, covers,…)
- Shape and condition
- and more…
Even offering shipping in the price is a huge plus, as long it’s in your city ,if not they will need to pickup themselves. Or you could ask for more money just for the delivery alone. Don’t worry there is some services offering delivery for small furnitures for a decent fees and keep the profit.
Babysit
Peoples are really busy, why not offering to babysit kids in your nebourhood for a good fee.Especially before Christmas, they don’t have much time in their hands ,this is a plus.They don’t want the kids to know what kind of gifts they will get, by offering the help they cannot say no.(Good idea to keep the kids at home while shopping)!
Release the stress of the holidays is good also, once you have work your 8 hours there is not much left in your body.By putting yourself in the shoes of other peoples,it will give you a understandable image of what their ife could be.Offering a helping hand is the best thing that could happen to them,even if they say no.(They do appreciate the offer).
Taxi.
Be the Taxi driver around your town for the holidays. You could try Uber as a first experience and see if you like it. Try using it during the day time, become familiar with the process and once you are comfortable ,use any calendar day to work as a taxi driver. Also the company called Lyft could be also a really good option, it is better to try both options.To have a good perspective on what is best for you.
You could even look for a delivery job, it is not a bad job to do,if you fit the job description. Don’t need to be 16, just need to be someone who knows the city,not stress,smiling and courteous. This will bring you a lot of tips, if done properly.
There is no low income jobs, there is only jobs to make money. Thats how we should see it, including myself.
Part Time.
Look for a part time job,don’t need to be the highest paying job , we are looking to have some extra money in our pocket. If you do come up with a good paying job ,thats even better. Look for temporary holiday kioks selling toys and game boards, this could be simple to approach the owner to work with them for a fee.
Any electronics store will love to have extra personels for the holidays, it is such in demand,try your luck never know.Even, if you don’t know a thing about electronics, the secret is to ask a lot of questions to understand the need of the clients. Most of the time, the client already know what they need, they just need to have a clarification on the item before a purchase is made.
Homework.
Do you have a passion in life or you are a excellent teacher? Why not share you knowledge with the youth and help them with their homeworks. There is a lot to do before Christmas and by offering help to the parent, it will release the pressure.Also…
We don’t realise sometime how much kids have pressure on their back, it is incredible.

- Weekly tasks at home

Even for me, i had to adjust my expectation for my kids and understand they also have working days like us ,working parents. I think we do forget they are working as hard as us to learn in shcool and have good grades. After 8 hours,they have to seat in front of their desk or at the kitchen table and work a extra 1 or 2 hours,even more sometime.
It is not only us sometime that need a break but the kids also need some time to relax their brain.
Time.
Take your time when looking for any extra jobs you may want to do, if it’s taking too much of your time,is it the right thing to do. You don’t want to take a job that will take 2 hours to commute back and forth, probably not. Adjust your calendar and see if it’s good for you if not, you could maybe…
Try to adjust your budget in a way that you don’t need to take a extra job by offering less gifts maybe. Save on cost, avoid electronics and go with the board games. This will allow you to spend more time with your family by dedicating a particular time in the week. If possible, to play all together and having fun with the kids,your family and friends.
