In January, more than two million people around the world were playing Wordle, the viral sensation that has since been acquired by the New York Times. It has become common on social media for players to post their score using green and yellow emoji boxes, that break down how many tries it took to solve the daily world.
This practices has raised questions about whether all players receive the same word.
The short answer is yes.
On a given day, players around the world have access to the same puzzle. However, the game updates based on the timezone of the player, meaning that some have access to a new word more earlier than others.
The New York Times formally began hosting Wordle on 10 February. We compiled a list of words selected by the news organizations since then:

The NYT has denied any such allegations and when looking to the list of words chosen, only a few seem more difficult compared to those selected before the acquisition.
However, with so few words selected by the NYT so far, any real changes to the game will take longer to notice and document.
What Wordle gets very right is in its community. Everyone gets the same word every day, and those words come from a curated list. Players can share their results, with the coveted goal of finding the correct word quickly.
There's just one puzzle a day, and everyone completes the same one. It resets at midnight each day. You'll find more information about the game in our What is Wordle? article.
Wordle solutions don't repeat. Does the bot take that into account? No, it does not. And yes, this is a disadvantage for the bot against any people who keep track of which words have already appeared as Wordle solutions.

In comparison, the least-common letter in the Wordle dictionary is the letter “J”. If the letter “J” is not present in a term, just 1.20% of all answers can no longer be the solution. Removing the two most-common letters together, “E” and “A”, takes out 69.20% of potential answers.
The letter “E” is also the most common letter used overall in all Wordle solutions, present in 10.65% of solutions. “R” is present in 7.77% of Wordle solutions, more than any other consonant.
What percentage of people get Wordle correct every day? According to a study, 97.08% of people who play Wordle every day pass the level using a maximum of six attempts. If a player fails on their sixth attempt, the level is classed as failed. On average, Wordle levels are failed by players 2.92% of the time.
A new game is released every day, so everybody is playing the same one at the same time. It did not take long for me to conclude that Wordle is a metaphor for life, meaning that you can learn a lot about different ways to see the world from different ways to play Wordle.
There are enough five-letter words to last until 2027.
We remove words if they're too obscure or have a derogatory secondary meaning. I choose the words about six weeks in advance using a random-number generator to select words from the original list.
Sweden is the world's best country at Wordle, with an average of 3.72. The US is ranked #18 in the world for Wordle, with a national average of 3.92. The American state with the best Wordle average is North Dakota (3.65). The US city with the best Wordle scores is Saint Paul, Minnesota, with an average of 3.51.
But, if that's the case, it was just a coincidence. The solutions to the original Wordle game were predetermined through October 20, 2027, due to the 2,315 solutions embedded in the game's code.
It did not. No Worlde answer has (yet) repeated - that's a list of every word so far and there are no repeats dating all the way back to June 19th, 2021. I double checked the date you posted your comment, April 19th, 2022 and the answer that day was FOYER.
Green means the letter and position of the letter are correct, yellow means the letter is correct, but the position is not, and gray means the letter is not in the five-letter word. Continue guessing five-letter words, and use the colors to inform your decisions.
Editor. In November 2022, the Times employed a dedicated editor, Tracy Bennett, to select the word of the day from a curated list. Speaking in January 2023 to Today she explained that the words are initially selected by a random system but she then checks each word for suitability.
Dilger calculated the odds of guessing the correct word on the first try. Since Wordle has a database of 2,315 common five-letter words (the puzzle editors eliminated thousands of uncommon ones), the odds of getting the puzzle right on the first try should be one in 2,315, or about 0.04 per cent.
The odds of solving a Wordle level in one try is 0.02% on average and is completely down to chance. The odds of solving a Wordle level in two tries is 5.67% on average. The odds of solving a Wordle level in three tries is 22.66% on average. The odds of solving a Wordle level in four tries is 33.10% on average.
