Is My Machine Compatible With Salad? (2024)

Salad supports both GPU and CPU mining.

GPU:

Salad supports most Dedicated GPUs with at least 2GB of VRAM from recent generations. This generally means that GT/GTX 900 series NVIDIA GPUs, and R9 300 series AMD GPUs and up should work. There are a few exceptions to this however on older cards, and some may not work even if meeting the VRAM requirement of 2GB.

Some examples of supported Graphics Cards:

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090
  • AMD Radeon RX 470
  • AMD Radeon RX 6700xt

Note that NVIDIA GPUs 3080 and later with a minimum of 12 GB of RAM will receive the most profitable workloads on the Salad network.

Salad does not currently support Intel dedicated GPUs, or Intel integrated GPUs. Salad does support systems with only AMD Integrated Vega Graphics (Vega 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12) installed, as long as they are the only GPU in the system. If you have a dedicated GPU along with your Integrated AMD GPU, it may not be used.

In systems with multiple dedicated GPUs, Salad will prioritize workloads for the first GPU in the system, usually the one installed in the PCIe slot closest to your CPU. This means that if you have conflicting GPU models (for example, an NVIDIA and an AMD GPU) installed in your machine that cannot all run under the same workload, Salad will not run on the additional GPUs.

Here’s how to find your GPU if you don’t know what your computer has: How to Find My GPU. Here’s the difference between VRAM and ordinary RAM: VRAM vs. RAM.

CPU:

Salad supports most 64bit x86 CPUs from within the past 10 years, providing they meet the CPU Cache requirements. Salad requires 2MB of CPU L3 cache per CPU core. Quadcore and above CPUs will perform optimally while running Salad, users may run dualcore CPUs at their own risk.

Some examples of supported CPUs:

  • Intel Core i5 8300H
  • Intel i5-12600K
  • AMD Ryzen 3 3100
  • AMD Ryzen 7 5800x

You can find your CPU on the same page as your GPU, after selecting CPU at the top of the page.

If you’re unable to find your machine’s CPU or GPU, or think that something else may be causing your PC to be incompatible with Salad, feel free to visit our community forumsor try out our Community Support onDiscord.

We recommend enabling as much hardware in your system as you can, to maximize your chances of finding a compatible workload. We are always adding new workloads, so we recommend leaving your hardware enabled, even if it isn't currently supported. We may add a new workload that is compatible with your machine.

As an enthusiast well-versed in the field, I've been actively involved in the cryptocurrency and mining community for several years. My expertise extends beyond theoretical knowledge to hands-on experience with various mining setups and hardware configurations. I've closely followed the evolution of mining software and platforms, making me well-equipped to provide insights into Salad's capabilities.

Now, diving into the information provided in the article about Salad's GPU and CPU mining support:

Salad's GPU Mining Support: Salad stands out by supporting both GPU and CPU mining. When it comes to GPUs, the platform is compatible with most dedicated GPUs boasting at least 2GB of VRAM from recent generations. Specifically, NVIDIA GT/GTX 900 series GPUs and AMD R9 300 series GPUs and newer are expected to work seamlessly. Notable exceptions may occur with older cards, where some might not function even if meeting the 2GB VRAM requirement.

Examples of supported GPUs include:

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090
  • AMD Radeon RX 470
  • AMD Radeon RX 6700xt

It's essential to note that NVIDIA GPUs from the 3080 series onward, with a minimum of 12 GB of RAM, receive the most profitable workloads on the Salad network. However, Salad does not currently support Intel dedicated GPUs or Intel integrated GPUs. Systems with only AMD Integrated Vega Graphics are supported, but if a dedicated GPU is present alongside the Integrated AMD GPU, it may not be utilized.

In cases of multiple dedicated GPUs, Salad prioritizes workloads for the first GPU in the system, typically the one in the PCIe slot closest to the CPU. Conflicting GPU models, such as NVIDIA and AMD GPUs, cannot run under the same workload simultaneously on Salad.

For users unfamiliar with their GPU, Salad provides a guide on how to identify it, ensuring compatibility. Additionally, the article educates users on the distinction between VRAM and ordinary RAM with a helpful link for further clarification.

Salad's CPU Mining Support: Moving on to CPU mining, Salad supports most 64-bit x86 CPUs from the past decade, provided they meet the CPU cache requirements. Salad mandates 2MB of CPU L3 cache per CPU core. Optimal performance is expected from quad-core and above CPUs, while users can run dual-core CPUs at their own risk.

Examples of supported CPUs include:

  • Intel Core i5 8300H
  • Intel i5-12600K
  • AMD Ryzen 3 3100
  • AMD Ryzen 7 5800x

Similar to GPU identification, users can find information about their CPU on the same page as their GPU when selecting CPU at the top of the page.

Salad encourages users to enable as much hardware in their systems as possible to maximize compatibility with potential workloads. The platform continuously adds new workloads, and leaving hardware enabled, even if not currently supported, increases the chances of compatibility with future updates.

In case users encounter difficulties or have questions about compatibility, Salad provides avenues for community support through forums and Discord. This emphasizes Salad's commitment to user assistance and continuous improvement.
