Unlike standard bank transfers, instant payments are set up so that the money reaches the recipient's bank account within seconds, which means it's not possible to retrieve the money via a clearing process.

Generally, funds are verified within 24 to 48 hours of the transaction being initiated. If the payer has the funds available in their checking account, the transaction is typically cleared within three to five business days and the funds are moved to the payee's account.

Payments for the same day: The money leaves your account immediately. It's usually available within 2 hours. For some banks, it can take up to close of business the next working day.
