How to install 2FA on multiple devices | Salestrekker Help Center (2024)
Two Factor Authentication (2FA) is an additional layer of security that adds a second check to your login. To use 2FA, you will need to have an additional device (most often your work or personal mobile phone). When signing into a new device the first time, you will be asked to enter a code that is sent to your secondary device, this ensures that you are the only one who can access your account.
This article covers how to properly install 2FA for your account.
In most cases, we strongly recommend that 2FA be used on only one device. Using 2FA with two or more devices can lead to problems if not activated correctly.
If you wish to activate 2FA on multiple devices (two phones, one phone + tablet, etc.), and you haven't activated 2FA yet, you will:
First go to your Settings > My Password and Security tab.
IMPORTANT: must be the same app installed on all devices.
Open Settings > My Password and Security tab.
Click on the 'Protect My Account button'.
Open two factor app on first device and scan the QR code.
Now your ST account should be listed in the app and will be generating a 6 digit code every 20 or so seconds.
DO NOT enter this code now in the 'Enter the six digit code' field.
Instead scan the QR code with your other device.
If the same code generates on both devices at the same time - success.
Now you can enter the 6 digit code in the two factor settings field to activate it.
That's it :) Next time you go to log in to your ST account, first it will ask you for the standard login details "email" and "password" and then ask you to enter that 6 digit code the app from either of your devices generates.
In case you already have 2FA active for your account, kindly remove it both from Salestrekker settings and from your authenticator app before proceeding to activate on multiple devices.

If you have not downloaded the app, click "Download now". Click "Next". When you see the following screen, open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your second device. Click the + button in the top right-hand corner and choose “Work or school account”.
Click on Google Authentication. Open the Authenticator App on both phones and scan the same QR code presented with both phones. You should compare the codes on both phones and make sure they match. If they do move on to the next step “Backup Key.” It is recommended to write down your backup key.
MFA vs 2FA. So, two-factor authentication (2FA) requires users to present two types of authentication, while MFA requires users to present at least two, if not more types of authentication.
The Microsoft Authenticator app backs up your account credentials and related app settings, such as the order of your accounts, to the cloud. You can then use the app to recover your information on a new device, potentially avoiding getting locked out or having to recreate accounts.
If you've lost access to your 2FA device, you can recover your account by using backup codes, alternative recovery options like a secondary email or phone number, or by contacting customer support. Be ready to confirm your identity by answering a few security questions or providing proof of ID.
Setting Up 2-Factor Authentication Without a Mobile Device. While we usually recommend that users set up 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) with a mobile device, you can instead opt to download a third-party authentication application to your computer and complete the setup without the use of a mobile device.
On your iPhone go to Settings > [your name] > Sign-In & Security. Tap Turn On Two-Factor Authentication, then tap Continue. Enter a trusted phone number (the number you'll use to receive verification codes), then tap Next. A verification code is sent to your trusted phone number.
For example, you're unable to use both Google Authenticator and Microsoft Authenticator for two-step verification associated with one singular account. You can, however, add multiple phone numbers to provide more options when receiving the verification code.
