Getting Started
The first thing you’ll need do is to set up a wallet that supports Binance Smart Chain (BSC). These wallets are available on both desktop computers and smartphone devices.
MetaMask is a popular browser-based wallet plugin that supports ERC20 (Ethereum network) and BEP2 & BEP20 (Binance Chain and Binance Smart Chain networks).
Installing Metamask to Your Browser
If you don’t have MetaMask installed yet and want to add custom tokens with it, visit metamask.io.
You should ALWAYS download MetaMask through their official site to be sure that you are downloading the official version, as there are countless fakes around that can scam your funds.
From the download, choose your preferred version. We go with the browser extension. After you have installed the extension, accept terms and services and create your new wallet.
Create Password for Login
You need to create a password for yourself. Choose something you’ll remember. If you forget your password or are changing your device, you will get a seed phrase that lets you reset your password or import it into new devices.
NEVER give anyone your seed phrase in any circ*mstances. This is the key to your funds, so don’t lose it. Any legitimate site or customer support will never ask for your seed phrase. So keep in mind if anyone asks for this, it is 100% SCAM!
Save Your Seed Phrase Somewhere Safe
After you have input the password, it’s time to get your seed phrase. In picture below you can see tips to do this.
If you want to go straight to the wallet and click “Remind me later” you can download your seed phrase from settings.
You can download Secret Backup Phrase from blue text to hard drive or click next to test your phrase. Keep in mind it needs to be in the correct order, so copy paste your phrase from this window or download it to your computer.
After you have input the words in right order, you’re ready to use MetaMask!
You might notice straight away that we’re still dealing with an Ethereum wallet. At best, this won’t work with Binance Smart Chain DApps. At worst, you could lose funds by sending them to addresses you can’t actually use.
Chrome and Firefox
To use Chrome and Firefox:
- Open MetaMask and click on the network selector at the top. By default it will show “Ethereum Mainnet.” Scroll down and click Custom RPC.
- A new window will open. Type in the details below.
- Network Name: Binance Smart Chain
- New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org
- Chain ID: 56
- Currency Symbol (optional): BNB
- Block Explorer URL (optional): https://bscscan.com
- Make sure you typed everything correctly and click Save. Binance Smart Chain will now be one of your network options.
Your Binance Smart Chain (BSC) wallet is now ready to receive RVC, BNB and BEP20 tokens!
Remember you’ll need to have some BNB in your wallet to pay for the transaction costs (called gas fees) if you want to perform a transfer or buy any BEP20 token because BSC requires BNB to pay for all transactions executed on the network.
