First of all don't turn it off even if you have huge amounts of RAM. There is a lot of software that uses it even if it doesn't really need it. Usually every time your system needs more RAM it resorts to the page file, so it has to be fast. That's why it's best to use an SSD for that purpose, unless you have lots of RAM (32+GB). You can set a custom page file depending on your RAM amount, or let the OS take care of it. If you have a hard drive, it's best to set a standard minimum and maximum amount in order to avoid fragments. Otherwise I think it's best to let the OS take care of it and avoid future headaches due to a bad configuration. Good luck.

I was trying to fix some pubg stuttering and ran into something concerning the page file and after reading lots of posts online about it i don't really seem to find an exact answer on what's best
To set a custom page file, let the OS do it or turn it off ?
Should it be on an SSD or HDD ?
and just generally does it affect games at all or no

I'm not asking for pubg but generally

1. Don't turn if OFF completely.
2. How much physical RAM do you have?

When I had 16GB RAM, I set the pagefile to 1GB min/max. And left it on the SSD.
What size SSD do you have?
If larger than 120GB, maybe just leave it at the default Windows settings.
If a 120GB, 1GB works, and does not suck up valuable drive space.

Either way, at 16GB RAM in a gaming PC, you should never see the pagefile used due to running out of RAM.

i have a 120GB SSD that the page file is on,i have it set to system managed but will try limiting it to 1 or 2 GB to see if it helps with some stuttering
