This calculator will help you to quickly convert a wage stated in one periodic term (hourly, weekly, etc.) into its equivalent stated in all other common periodic terms. This can be helpful when comparing your present wage to a wage being offered by a prospective employer where each wage is stated in a different periodic term (e.g., one is listed as an hourly wage and the other is listed as annually).

Simply enter a wage, select it's periodic term from the pull-down menu, enter the number of hours per week the wage is based on, and click on the "Convert Wage" button.

How Much Will Your Biweekly Paycheck Be?

Historically the most common work schedule for employees across the United States is an 8-hour day with 5-days per week. If you work 40 hours a week then converting your hourly wage into the weekly equivalent is easy as you would simply multiply it by 40, which means adding a zero behind the hourly rate & then multiplying that number by 4. To convert into a biweekly period this number would then be doubled. So take the hourly wage, add a zero behind it, and then multiply that number by 8 to get your pre-tax biweekly income. If your effective tax rate is around 25% then that would be like subtracting 2 from the 8, so you'd take the hourly earnings, add a zero behind it & then multiply by 6.

Calculating Average Biweekly Pay for Uneven Work Hours

Some professions like nurses & doctors in the healthcare industry might work longer shifts where they are on for 12 hours a day alternatively 3 days one week, 4 days the next week. That could make their work schedule alternate between 36 hours and 48 hours each week.

For people with alternating work schedules (like doctors or nurses) to calculate their average hours they would add 2 weeks together. For example, 3 days plus 4 days is 7 days, which divided by 2 is 3.5 days in their average work week.

The following table shows what the pretax biweekly earnings for 20, 30 & 40 hour work weeks for various hourly salaries. Please note, these numbers are exclusive of income tax.
