Find a piece of technical data in a random container. Insert the data into the secure document storage in the Camp Venture basem*nt or hand it in to Scribe Valdez at Fort Atlas.

Technical data is a quest item used to initiate and complete the repeatable quest Forbidden Knowledge. The holotape preservation of technology describes the need to collect technical data and deposit it into a secure location in the basem*nt of Camp Venture or give it to Scribe Valdez inside Fort Atlas.

When you find "Technical Data" in the world, this quest will appear and prompt you to turn the data over to the Brotherhood of Steel. You can give it to Scribe Valdez, who is found inside Fort Atlas (only if you have completed "Motherhood of Invention") or put it in a wall safe found inside Camp Venture.

The Forbidden Knowledge quest is one of the Far Harbor Sidequests in the Far Harbor DLC. This quest becomes available after doing the miscellaneous quests, Tell the Institute about the Synth Refuge and Update the Institute about Acadia, and progressing far enough in the main story.
