What is the Flare Network?

The Flare Network is a new layer-1 blockchain aiming to connect everything, including off-chain data and other layer-1 blockchains through their F-Asset, State Connector and Layer Cake protocols.

Flare officially launched in observation mode on July 13, 2022, which will last for a minimum of 8 weeks. During this time, the network will be tested and become fully decentralized as validation power passes from the Flare Foundation to the Flare Time-Series Oracle (FTSO) data providers.

Upon exiting observation mode, the initial Flare (FLR) token distribution of 15% will take place. It is at this time that you can claim your initial FLR airdrop using your Exodus FLR private keys.

The Flare Foundation has issued the first Flare Improvement Proposal (FIP.01). If the proposal passes, after the initial FLR airdrop of 15%, any FLR token holder will have to delegate their FLR to an FTSO data provider in order to continue receiving airdrops.

For more information on FIP.01, you can read Flare's explanation here: FIP.01 - Flare Distribution, Inflation & Incentive Pool Proposal.

To keep up-to-date with the Flare network, check out the official Flare network blog.

The Flare network token has been renamed from Spark to Flare (FLR). You can read the official announcement here.

What is the difference between the Flare Network snapshot and launch?

The Flare snapshot occurred at 0:00 UTC on December 12, 2020.

The Flare (FLR) token distribution will happen after the network exits observation mode. When this happens, the airdropped tokens will be delivered to your Flare address.

The Flare Network is organizing this so that you will receive your airdropped tokens in a 1:1.0073 ratio based on your XRP holdings in your XRP address at the time of the snapshot. To read the official announcement from Flare Networks, please click here.

If you held XRP inside your Exodus wallet during the snapshot and registered your XRP address before June 12, 2021, you’ll be eligible to receive the FLR airdrop.

How is Exodus handling the Flare Network airdrop?

Flare (FLR) tokens won't be airdropped until the Flare network has exited observation mode.

Because you are in complete control of your Exodus wallet, you always have access to 100% of your funds. So even if Exodus does not support the Flare token, you will still be able to access your FLR tokens by locating your Flare (FLR) private key and importing it into a wallet that supports the airdrop.

Please be very careful with your 12-word secret recovery phrase and private keys, because they control access to your funds. Never share them with anyone, and only import them into platforms that you trust 100%. If you choose to import your 12-word phrase or private keys into a third-party platform, you do so at your own risk.
