Find the serial number printed on the underside of your Mac, near the regulatory markings. It's also on the original packaging, next to a barcode label. You can then enter that serial number on the Check Coverage page or Tech Specs page to find your model.

From the Apple menu  in the corner of your screen, choose About This Mac. Then find the serial number in the information shown.

The serial numbers are stored in the BIOS so getting to them isn't quite as simple as deciphering the manufacturer's code of the MAC address… If you can tie the MAC address to the IP from the machine and it is on you can submit some powershell code onto that machine and retrieve the serial nrs.
