A coin collector gave step-by-step directions on how to get $5,000 from one rare quarter.

The TikTokuser @thebowerscoinshow posted a video in July 2023 that resurfaced earlier this week and showed off a 1965 silver quarter.

'One of these eagle back quarters sold for thousands of at auction,' the video taker claimed.

The rare coin looks like a present day quarter, but the age and description of it are far different from those that are seen every day in wallets.

Anyone hoping to get the large cash total will have to do a variety of things before doing so, including analyzing the outside of the quarter.

The quarter is different from other present day quarters and its physical characteristics can make it easy for someone to know if it's possibly worth thousands

Before anyone does anything, they need to make sure that the quarter was actually made in 1965.

Next, the rim of the coin needs to be nearly pure silver like the one featured in the TikTok video, which is extremely different from a non-valuable quarter.

However, it's not just about looks when it comes to the $5,000 quarter.

The person featured in the video revealed that the quarter needs to weigh around 6.2 grams.

The coin collector then put the quarter on a scale and it came in at about 6.11 grams.

'If you find a quarter that has the year 1965 and it's silver, then you have found a $5,000 quarter,' the TikToker stated.

'Always make sure to check your change.'

According to the TikToker in the comment section, a 1964 quarter is only worth 'around $8.'

For anyone who has a 1965 quarter, the coin collector suggested that they take it to a 'local coin shops or sell on eBay.'

Interestingly enough, an eBay listing of the 1965 quarter is available to purchase for a nearly $20,000.

However, a few other TikTokers are not convinced that the coin is really worth that much.

A few social media users thought the price of the quarter was a joke and some asked questions about their own quarters

One commenter believed that the quarter is worth '5 dollars,' to which @thebowerscoinshow responded that it really does cost $5,000.

'Nope 5K check online bud,' the coin collector wrote.

However, his response was not enough to convince him and other commenters that the quarter is worth thousands of dollars.

The U.S. Sun was first to report.
