A good Test Case satisfies the following criteria:
- Easily identifiable with its name;
- Simple and specific (any one in the test team should be able to execute the Test Cases without the author help);
- Reasonable probability of catching an defect;
- Traceable to requirements;
- Compliant to regulations;
- Exercises an area of interest;
- Does interesting things;
- Doesn't do unnecessary things;
- Explicitedpre-conditions;
- Defined test data input;
- Clear, concise, and complete (no assumptions in Test Case description, steps, expected result etc.);
- Written without grammar errors;
- Written without ambiguous words;
- Always list expected results;
- Always list post condition;
- Neither too simple nor too complex;
- Not redundant with other Test Cases;
- Repeatable and reusable;
- Minimize technical support;
- Written with the help of Test Case design methods;
- Allows isolation and identification of defects;
- Makesdefects obvious; and
- Assure quality.

In addition of all these above tips, its very important to create and follow the standards that have been agreed as part of the Service Level Agreement (SLA)...
