PayPal and Cash App are two widely used options that allow you to quickly and easily transfer money to friends and family on the same platform. You can’t make a direct transfer from PayPal to Cash App, and funding a Cash App account with a PayPal debit card isn’t an option — Cash App doesn’t permit you to use a PayPal debit card as a funding source. However, most people should be able to use one or both of the following workarounds to make a transfer.
How To Transfer PayPal Funds to Cash App With a Cash Card
If you have the Cash App debit card — the Cash Card — for your Cash App account, you can add it to your PayPal Wallet and transfer money from your PayPal balance to your Cash Card.
You can also set up your Cash App account as a bank account in PayPal using yourCash App routing numberand account number.
How To Transfer Money From PayPal to Cash App Without a Cash Card
You can still move money from PayPal to Cash App, even if you don’t have a Cash Card. Just link both apps to the same bank account, either a checking or savings account. The bank account is the go-between account.
- Transfer cash from PayPal to the bank account.
- Once the money posts to your bank, use Cash App to initiate a transfer from your bank account.
- The transferred funds should reach your Cash App account.
If you make regular transfers in and out of a linked bank account from PayPal and Cash App, you should consider using achecking accountrather than savings. Some banks charge fees if you make more than six transfers into or out of your savings account per month.
How Do You Transfer Money from PayPal to Cash App Instantly?
You can — more or less — instantly transfer money to your Cash Card, if you have one. Make sure you’ve linked the Cash Card to your PayPal account. Then, when you initiate the transfer in PayPal, select “In Minutes” rather than the free “1-3 Days” option. The money should be available on your Cash App debit card within minutes.
Instant Transfers With a Bank Account
You can also instantly transfer from PayPal to your linked bank account. Once the money appears in your bank account, log in to Cash App and initiate a transfer of the funds from your bank to your Cash App account. The added step makes this less of an instant transfer, but you can still get the money transferred over relatively quickly.
Note that if you use your bank account as a go-between, the transfer may be slowed down by processing time on the bank’s end, as well.

When making a transfer from PayPal, you can select the “1-3 Days” transfer option without incurring a fee. However, to use the “In Minutes” transfer option, PayPal charges 1.75% of the transfer amount.

According to PayPal, there are several reasons a transfer may be denied, including:
- The transfer exceeds PayPal’s per transaction or daily, weekly or monthly transfer limits.
- Another limitation on your PayPal account is preventing the transfer.

If you have the Cash Card linked to your PayPal account, you can log in to PayPal and initiate a transfer from your Cash Card to PayPal.
Transferring Money From PayPal to Other Money Transfer Apps
Occasionally, you might need to transfer money from PayPal to other money apps, such as Venmo or Chime. Here are a few things to know about moving money to each.
Can You Send Money From PayPal to Venmo?
Even though PayPal owns Venmo, you can’t transfer money directly between the two apps, nor can you link a PayPal debit card to Venmo. You need a Venmo debit card with a verified and linked bank account to transfer money into yourVenmo accountfrom an external account.
However, if you are eligible to make external transfers, you can link the same external bank account to both Venmo and PayPal and use it as a go-between for transfers.
Can You Transfer Money From PayPal to Chime?
Even thoughChime*is a fintech app and not just a peer-to-peer money transfer app, you can’t transfer money directly from PayPal to Chime as you would to a bank account. Once again, you can link the same bank account to both PayPal and Chime to transfer funds via the bank account.
