Blog Income Report: I made $12,373 in June 2023 (2024)

HellošŸ‘‹and welcome to the blog income report:June 2023 edition, baby!

You can sort of guess how excited I am as I write this because this income report ainā€™t a regular one, Oh noā€¦

This is THE income report Iā€™ve been looking forward to writing ever since I started this very blog.

We have cleared a huge milestone!

This blog has made over $10k in one month. I repeat: This blog generated over $10k last month.

In last monthā€™s income report, I randomly mentioned an ambitious goal:

My goal for 2023 would be to smash the $10,000 per month milestone before December 31 hits.

To be able to think I surpassed this goal (with 6 extra months to spare) isnā€™t something that has sunk in yet.

donā€™t think it will anytime soonā€¦

So yeah,

Iā€™m here to express my utmost gratitude to everyone who has been a part of this; Thank You!

I still recall the moment I received my first ever ā€œblog moneyā€ of around $25.

At that time, being a college kid, having no monetizable skills, no experience, and no direction as to what to do post-graduation,

That $25 is what made me believe making money on the internet is, in fact, a viable way.

I distinctly remember I bought headphones with it.

And it was a surreal feeling, to buy something with the money that I made on my own.

And right there and then, I decided to give this blogging thing a proper try.

And since the only reason I started this blog was that I read someone elseā€™s income report, she was making $100k a month,

I decided to write these little income reports that can maybe help someone in any way.

And here we are!

If youā€™re new to this blog and unfamiliar with the whole ā€œIncome Reportā€ thing, let me tell you what goes down in a typical income report such as this.

A blog income report is usually a recap of a blog in a period of time (monthly or yearly), where the person writing the blog shares:

  • Income generated
  • Received traffic
  • And other blog updates for that particular period of time.

Kind of like a ā€œbehind-the-scenesā€ or a ā€œperformance reviewā€ for a website that is usually kept away from general website visitors.

Not all websites do this, but some do, and I happen to be someone who does.

Obviously, there isnā€™t some strict format when it comes to writing an income report that everyone has to follow,

Itā€™s your blog; you decide what goes down!

But how much and from where you made the total income is always included, hence the name ā€œIncome report.ā€

This also helps aspiring bloggers or people who want to make money on the side to get a glimpse of the real numbers that can ultimately help them in some form.

Anyhoo,

To say June was a high-performing month would be a bit of an understatement.

I mean, both in terms of traffic and overall income generated, Juneā€™s numbers grew almost 2X compared to last month.

Iā€™m kinda proud and utterly grateful to say that Iā€™ve been able to get over $10k a month from this website from my home (with a bit of vacation, beaches this time).

As you might know, publishing income reports is one of the few things I really look forward to every single month, no matter if itā€™s a low or high month.

I kinda lost this feeling of ā€œSharing my blogā€™s progressā€ for a moment a year back, and I bounced back from that complacency mindset and started posting again in Feb 2023,

And boy, am I glad that it didā€¦

  • Feb 2023, income was: $4753
  • Mar 2023, it was: $4801
  • April 2023, it was: $4767
  • May 2023, it was: $6747
  • The month of June 2023: $12,373 šŸ˜¬šŸ“ˆ

That is indeed quite a jump!

Being accountable does help you a lot (more on that later)ā€¦

Moving on,

This income report will encompass howthis blog made around $12,373 last month, though what revenue models?

And what are some of the significant changes I made last month on this website, plus some other MAJOR updates?

And trust me, there are some big updates!

Coming back to the previous point concerning the necessity to publish income reports,

Why do it?

Table of Contents

Why do I publish my income reports?

Nobody wants to share something that is so personal (especially when it comes to money) and potentially vulnerable to their competitors just to show off, right?

The income reports are a self-documented report of my blogging journey so far, the monthly progress of a self-learned blogger, an inexperienced college student who just wanted to build a full-time income stream.

And therefore, I wanted to share all it took me to make this happen. But is this really a good idea?

There has to be another reason that transcends the risksā€¦or people wonā€™t make such moves that are clearly a gross error in judgment.

These kinds of ā€œinside peekā€ blog posts often come with some incredible benefits.

For example, Iā€™m publishing these income reports for 3 primary reasons:

  1. To motivate YOU
  2. To keep ME accountable
  3. Boosts engagement (yup, I said it)

Expanding on these pointsā€¦

1. It motivates people to start something for themselves

Itā€™s no secret that people are primarily motivated by results!

Does a tiring workout ever inspire you?

Probably not; you are encouraged to have a well-shaped body or to have proper mobility, which is the end result, and thus you work out.

Itā€™s not the process that gets people moving but the euphoric feeling to have achieved the end goal that motivated them to start in the first place.

Hence, I share my results to motivate people who are on the fence.

And if, after seeing my results, you do decide to start your own blog, Iā€™ll say this income report has served its purpose well.

As I already mentioned before, my first impression of this whole blogging industry was through an income report of a wildly successful blogger who had 6-figures in her monthly income reports.

And that was enough to start my very own blog.

Witnessing someone make hundreds of thousands of dollars in a month working for nobody but themselves really gave me a strong dose of encouragement.

I wanted those results and the work-life independence that comes with them.

By giving you the inside scoop on what a blog really makes (which is usually kept hidden) by giving you those exact income digits, itā€™ll show you what is really possible and hopefully help you decide whether you should give blogging a shot or not.

2. It pushes me NOT to get comfortable

Publishing my progress (or sometimes the decline) and the blogging journey in general also serves as an advantage to me.

Sure, I make a little ad income every time people read through an article like this, but thatā€™s not the most valuable thing Iā€™m acquiring here.

When I have a like-minded community that monitors and analyses my progress over time, it makes me do things more sincerely.

And this makes me want to give 110% in everything I do on this blog.

In short, It keeps me in check when it comes to slacking off (which is quite evident given Iā€™ve skipped a lot of reports in the past).

Moreover, it will help me to keep track of the blog like a well-sorted document and how far the blog has come in terms of growth, readership, and income.

3. Boosts engagement

As much as many bloggers would hate to admit this publicly,

Posting income reports actually helps one to gain a lot of engagement, helps in audience retention, and as a result, a boost in earnings too.

For example, pick out any of my old Income Reports and compare the sheer number of comments and support I received from the people who follow these reports compared to other blog posts.

The difference is quite prominent.

Also, another side advantage is this kind of post gets a lot of backlinks when people make income report roundup posts highlighting various earning potentials from a wide range of niches.

And Iā€™ve been featured in a lot of such roundup posts without any reaching out at all.

Now letā€™s jump right into the part youā€™re here for: The income breakdown for June 2023.

The Income Breakdown: $12,373.87

SOURCEAMOUNT
Mediavine Ad Income $9,690.83
Affiliate Income
ā€“ Proofread Anywhere$1153.04
ā€“ Impact$1530
TOTAL$12,373.87

Mediavine Ads are taking the top spot, as usual, followed by affiliate earnings.

I cannot recommend Mediavine as an ad network enough, especially for bloggers.

Mediavine fetches THE best RPMs in the industry, and Iā€™m so glad to be a part of their exclusive publisherā€™s team.

Another little milestone I had this month was hitting my first $500 day in ad income.

Blog Income Report: I made $12,373 in June 2023 (1)

This was a big deal, to be honest, because I cleared the $300/day, $400/day, and $500/day mark all in the span of a few days.

Which I thought was not a possibility anytime soon.

I had an average RPM of around $60.14 in June;

It usually lingers around $50 to $70 and goes to $90 during Q4.

How is RPM calculated?

As you may or may not know but income through ads, whether it is on a blog post or a YouTube video, or anywhere else, tends to be a little higher during the holiday season.

Brands and companies tend to spend more on ads because this is the time people do a lot of shopping.

And thus, the RPM (rate per millie) or CPM (cost per millie) is generally the highest compared to the rest of the year,

P.S. RPM is a representation of how much money 1000 views make. (Millie= Thousand)

So if the RPM is $25, and I got 10,000 views, my income would be (25*10,000/1000) $250.

If you want to know more about increasing your RPMs through Mediavineā€™s dashboard, I kinda have a Twitter thread complied, explaining that (or I might write a whole blog post about it later, letā€™s see).

Not only Mediavine brings me a good RPM, but it also assists site owners in improving other site metrics such as speed, SEO, subscriber growth, and so so many tools for enhanced user experience.

If you want to know more about Mediavine and how to apply there? take a look at this detailed Mediavine Review I published a while ago.

Impact and Proofreading course affiliate programs are the only affiliate income sources I have for the time being, which brings a steady flow of affiliate revenue every month.

Blog Expenses for June 2023

Below mentioned are some of the expenses that must be incurred to keep this blog up and running 24/7

SOURCEAMOUNT
Blog Hosting + CDN$34.95 + $17
Email Service Provider$29
Canva Pro$12.95
TOTAL$93.9

Above are some of the recurring costs associated with that are charged every single month from my credit card.

There are also some additional expenses that are charged yearly, such as the blog theme that Iā€™m using in all of my blogs (GeneratePress), which costs around $59 yearly, or a one-time payment of $249, whichever mode fits your needs.

And at times, I have to use keyword research tools such as Semrush & Ahrefs to be able to look for ideas to write about, and these tools do help a lot.

Semrushā€™s subscription is half of that of Ahrefs.

And yes, I have bought subscriptions for both of them to see long-term how they perform, if they are worth my monthly investment, and which is a better fit for my upcoming SEO goals.

So the Net Profit for this blog turns out to be ($12,373.87 ā€“ $93.9), which is:

$12,279.97

(up by 88.7% since last month)

On the fence about starting your own blog?

Building a personal brand online not only helps you build a steady source of income but also helps you in all sorts of not-so-direct ways, such as:

  • High-income potential (a lot of established bloggers make over $100,000 a month)
  • You leverage your blog to help your existing business
  • Building a like-minded community
  • You donā€™t need any technical or coding knowledge prior to starting a blog.
  • Starting a blog is super cheap (only $2.95 a month)
  • You can create your blog on any topic you like or are passionate about, ANYTHING!
  • Create a passion project under your own name ( Example: yourname.com, I have another blog other than this which is in my name, sayanneogie.com)
  • What do you have to lose? (other than those $2.95/month, a cup of coffee is more expensive than this)

Hereā€™s how to start your own blog in 10 minutes:

Blog Traffic (Numbers & Traffic Sources)

Blog Income Report: I made $12,373 in June 2023 (5)

June received a major boost in traffic from Pinterest starting on 9 June, and it kept on going in waves till the very end.

Initially, I thought this was a fluke or some bad reporting from Universal Analytics, but after much speculation, the conclusion was a pin got viral that I posted back in 2020.

This extra surge in traffic resulted in a doubling in blog traffic and, eventually, revenue.

After getting back from my vacation, I posted about it on Twitter, and a staggering number of people were interested in knowing how Pinterest works and how to drive traffic from that platform.

So I curated a blog post encompassing all the things you need to know to get started and pull high-quality traffic from Pinterest.

Hereā€™s the link if you want to give it a read:

99% of the organic social traffic that this website receives is from Pinterest.

I literally started this fresh email list last month, and now it has over 1k subs; look at that linear growth line.

*Chefā€™s kiss*

Also, since I was on vacation and was building new forms post coming home, I didnā€™t have the proper time to curate emails for the list or any new content to share.

So yeah, emails will be sent from this month onwards.

Major Blog Updates

June was a month of HUGE changes.

On day 1, I was mentioned (and got a backlink) on a huge website with a Domain rating of 77, which was quite unexpected.

And around day 9, As I mentioned earlier, this website received a huge influx of Pinterest traffic, and it broke my goal traffic threshold of around 20k page views in one day.

That, too, was a bit of a surprise as I was on vacation during that time and did nothing out of the ordinary to its causality.

After that, I curated quite a lot of email forms, informative PDFs, and landing pages to make the best of the spike in traffic; that email list sits at over 1000 people subscribed.

Apart from all these,

The one BIG update that I would like to share is,

Wait for itā€¦

šŸ“£ I have launched 4 new niche sites apart from this blog (Prosmartrepreneur.com) and my other one (SayanNeogie.com), whose domain names Iā€™m going to keep under wraps for the time being.

Shhhhhh šŸ¤« ā€¦

I kinda want to build them in secret & reveal them once they are accepted in Mediavine.

Stay tuned šŸ‘€

So in total, currently, I am working on 6 websites, all simultaneously.

SiteNicheSessionsIncome
1. ProsmartrepreneurFinance & Business161,252$12,373
2. SayanNeogiePersonal Development264$0.36
3. [Redacted]Mostly Business00
4. [Redacted]Travel00
5. [Redacted]Personal Finance00
6. [Redacted][Redacted]00

A mountain of work awaits me, in a good way, of course!

A whole lot of page designing, menu segmentation, and whatnot are pending at the moment. After addressing those, I can start creating content.

The goal for the coming two years would be to publish evergreen content and get these sites into Mediavine.

Of course, this blog and a few potential ones will take priority when it comes to content publication; other sites, too, will be updated from time to time.

This is a project that has been on my mind for months now, and Iā€™m glad this monthā€™s growth pushed me to give this a go.

So from next month on, I might include concise progress updates on those new sites along with their traffic numbers; stay tuned!

Thatā€™s it for June 2023 income report!

See ya next month!

Cheers!
