Context

BeanBoozled (often styled spaced out, "Bean Boozled") is a Russian Roulette type branch of Jelly Belly jelly beans which made its debut in 2007.^[1]

There are 10 different colors of jelly beans, but 20 different flavors. The game uses a spinner wheel or a dispenser for players to decide what color of jelly bean to sample. Each color of jelly bean could either be the normal, great-tasting flavor or a weird, gross tasting flavor. The bad flavors appear identical to the great tasting ones. For example, the orange bean splashed with red could either be Peach flavor or Barf flavor.

BeanBoozled is currently in its sixth Edition, heading into the seventh.^[2]

Appearance

BeanBoozled packaging (bags/boxes) contained a color pallate of indigo, red, yellow, and purple, which are generally at the front & sides of the box, and all around the bags.

The appearance of its packaging was changed upon the release of the sixth edition to a purple, red, light blue, & orange color pallate.

History

In 2000^[3], Harry Potter Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans launched, which had intentionally gruesome flavors such as "Vomit", "Earwax", "Sausage", "Rotten Egg" and "Booger".

In 2007, Jelly Belly came up with the idea of turning Bertie Bott's beans into a Russian Roulette game. The game included ten great tasting flavors and ten lookalike nasty flavors. Hence, BeanBoozled was made.^[4]

	Barf	Peach	1st Edition	N/A	Barf (formerly Vomit) is a BeanBoozled jelly bean that was introduced since BeanBoozled's debut. It is a medium-dark orange with red splotches to resemble harmless Peach jelly beans. The flavor was the result of a failed attempt at creating a cheese pizza flavor, where Jelly Belly accidentally used a smelly cheese.[5] This flavor does not contain actual vomit and is completely safe to eat.
	Booger	Juicy Pear	1st Edition	N/A	Booger is a BeanBoozled jelly bean. It is a light, pale, opaque green with darker green & light brown spots, resembling snot. It is Juicy Pear's equivalent and was intended to taste salty and earthy. Like all other BeanBoozled flavors, this flavor does not contain any actual boogers and can be swallowed.

The flavor was inspired by the smell released once a fridge with bad eggs is opened. Like all other BeanBoozled flavors, this flavor does not contain any actual egg and the flavor is completely artificial.
	Baby Wipes	Coconut	1st Edition	4th Edition	Baby Wipes was a BeanBoozled bean (1st - 4th edition) and was the BeanBoozled equivalent of Coconut. it was a pure opaque white jelly bean, meant to resemble the appearance of a baby wipe. This flavor was as tolerable as Toothpaste, which is why it was removed and replaced with Spoiled Milk in the fourth edition.
	Black Pepper	Plum	1st Edition	2nd Edition	Black Pepper was a BeanBoozled flavor, and was Plum's equivalent. It was a opaque dark indigo-purple color splashed with white splotches, which will sometimes cover most of the jelly bean. The indigo color mixed with white is meant to resemble the gray color of black pepper. This jelly bean was grey in Bertie Bott's but was changed to resemble Plum in BeanBoozled.
	Skunk Spray	Licorice	1st Edition	4th Edition	Skunk Spray was a BeanBoozled flavor, which was introduced in the first edition and was removed in the fourth. It is a pure opaque black color, meant to resemble the fur on a skunk. It is the BeanBoozled equivalent of Licorice. This bean was notorious for being a 'lose-lose,' due to the fact the many people dislike black licorice.

It was an opaque light tan color overlaid with a medium orange, meant to resemble cheddar and mozzarella cheese. It's flavor, however, is meant to resemble blue cheese. 	Ear Wax	Café Latte	1st Edition	2nd Edition	Ear Wax (commonly styled as "earwax") was the Café Latte BeanBoozled equivalent. It was a beige opaque jelly bean. It is still found in the Harry Potter Mix, but was removed from BeanBoozled in the very next edition after its release.
	Pencil Shavings	Top Banana	1st Edition	3rd Edition	Pencil Shavings was the Top Banana (Ba-na-na in the Minion Edition) BeanBoozled equivalent, being introduced inBeanBoozled's debut. It is an opaque yellow that's dark enough to almost look brown, with brown blotches, meant to resemble the wooden interior and yellow-orange skin of a pencil. It's flavor is meant to resemble wood. It was retired in the 3rd edition.
	Canned Dog Food	Chocolate Pudding	2nd Edition	6th Edition	Canned Dog Food was the Chocolate Pudding BeanBoozled equivalent. It is a opaque dark brown, resembling the appearance of dog food. It's flavor is meant to resemble the smell of dog food. It was replaced with Liver & Onions in the 6th Edition.
	Centipede	Strawberry Jam	2nd Edition	3rd Edition	Centipede was the BeanBoozled equivalent of Strawberry Jam, being added in the second edition and being removed in the following edition. It is in Bertie Bott's, but is referred to as "Earthworm". It is an opaque violet-red jelly bean with darker red spots, meant to resemble the color of a centipede.
	Stinky Socks	Tutti-Fruitti	3rd Edition	N/A	Stinky Socks is a Bean Boozled flavor introduced in the third edition, still being available as of the current 6th edition. It is Tutti Fruitti's counterpart. It is a medium dark opaque pink jelly bean splashed with red, yellow, blue and green, meant to resemble colorful designs on socks. The flavor was inspired by the scent of a colleague's socks put in a bag and kept in a warm environment.

It is a medium transparent green jelly bean, meant to resemble grass. It is a Bertie Bott's flavor, simply called 'Grass.'
	Spoiled Milk	Coconut	4th Edition	6th Edition	Spoiled Milk replaced Baby Wipes as Coconut's equivalent, and it is a pure white jelly bean, resembling the color of milk. This flavor took 6 months for Jelly Belly to perfect. The flavor was inspired by the smell of milk left in the closet for a few days, and also includes vinegar too to make the taste realistic.
	Dead Fish	Strawberry Banana Smoothie	4th Edition	N/A	Dead Fish is Strawberry Banana Smoothie's BeanBoozled equivalent, and it is commonly confused for Barf since their colors are similar. It is a bright orange with light red splotches. The flavor is meant to taste like dried, stale fish and the flavor was inspired by the scent of a fish market.
	Stink Bug	Toasted Marshmallow	5th Edition	N/A	Toasted Marshmallow's BeanBoozled equivalent is Stink Bug. It is a tannish-white jelly bean splashed with brown, meant to represent the color of an insect. It tastes notably similar to the Skunky Spray. It was introduced in the 5th Edition.
	Dirty Dishwater	Birthday Cake	5th Edition	7th Edition	Dirty Dishwater is the BeanBoozled equivalent of Birthday Cake. It is a pale, opaque white covered with various colored spots, to represent different colors on dishes. The flavor is inspired by dirty soapy water.
	Old Bandage	Pomegranate	6th Edition	N/A	Old Bandage is Pomegranate's BeanBoozled equivalent, introduced in the sixth edition. It is a medium red jelly bean with both dark & light red spots, representing blood and a bandage. Its flavor is inspired by the smell of a hospital, and the taste of blood.
	Liver & Onions	Cappuccino	6th Edition	N/A	Liver & Onions is the Cappuccino BeanBoozled equivalent, having been introduced in the sixth edition. It is a dark opaque brown jelly bean splashed with white, with the brown representing the liver & meat, and white representing onions. It tastes notably similar to the Canned Dog Food with a hint of onion.

BeanBoozled: Limited Throwback Edition

BeanBoozled: Limited Throwback Edition was released in 2017 to celebrate 10 years since BeanBoozled's lauch in 2007. BeanBoozled was on its fourth edition at the time, and the mix consisted of all the old flavor pairs from the first three editions. This edition is known for having an 80s/90s look and graphics on the box to set it apart from the current version.

BeanBoozled: Minion Edition

BeanBoozled: Minion Edition was released in 2017 to promote the new Despicable Me 3 movie that came out that same year. It has the equivalent flavors as the fourth edition, the only difference being Ba-na-na/Pencil Shavings and Sour Apple/Minion Fart replaced Caramel Corn/Moldy Cheese and Lime/Lawn Clippings in this edition.

BeanBoozled: Fiery Five

In BeanBoozled Fiery Five, the flavors consist of just 5 different spicy pepper flavors, those being Sriracha (mildest), Jalapeño, Cayenne, Habanero, and Carolina Reaper (hottest). These beans come with a warning since they're extremely hot and to not share them with people without permission or telling them what they are. It was released in 2020.^[9]
