New research has found that Apple Safari is the web browser, primarily meaning that it is the least vulnerable. But how many people actually use it? Even though it is available on Apple devices, most people are more comfortable with Google Chrome. It is a widely-used browser that many people prefer to use, even if it's not already installed on their device.

This popularity means that most people stick with Chrome, which makes the market for web browsers stay mostly the same. As per Statcounter, which is a platform that tracks the use of web browsers across various websites, Google Chrome is still the most widely used desktop browser worldwide, with over 66 per cent of the market share. Safari and Microsoft Edge are the next two most popular browsers, with 11.87 per cent and 11 per cent of users respectively. However, only 1.01 per cent of Indians use Safari, indicating its low popularity in that region.

Despite its popularity, Google Chrome is also the most vulnerable web browser in 2022, according to a report by Atlas VPN. The report revealed that Chrome had 303 reported vulnerabilities so far this year, the highest cumulative number of vulnerabilities of all time, with over 3,000 reported vulnerabilities in total.

In contrast, Apple's Safari browser has consistently had low vulnerability numbers for years. Despite having over a billion users and becoming the second most popular browser globally, Safari had only 26 documented vulnerabilities in the first three quarters of 2022.Google Chrome is the most commonly used browser in the world, but it also has a high number of vulnerabilities.
