Does Amazon support FIDO? ›

AWS supports and encourages use of a FIDO security key as a MFA device for accessing the AWS Management Console using certain web browsers.

AWS supports using FIDO2 security keys only in the AWS Management Console. Using FIDO2 security keys for MFA is not supported in the AWS CLI and AWS API , or for access to MFA-protected API operations.

When using Windows Hello, use Windows 10 (ver1903) or later. When using iOS, use iOS 14 or later. When using iPadOS, use iPadOS 14 or later.

In short, the main differences between FIDO 1.0 and FIDO2 are standardization, scope, interoperability and adoption. FIDO2 is a more comprehensive and standardized protocol that is supported by all leading browsers and operating systems, including Android, IOS, MacOS and Windows.

Just go to the website your key already registered. On the 2-step verification tab or similar tab, delete the device. Two FIDO keys are recommended, one for normal use, the other for backup.

What is the difference between YubiKey and FIDO key? ›

Yubikey is a physical authentication device that plugs into a computer or mobile device and uses one-time passwords for authentication. U2F (Universal 2nd Factor) is an open authentication standard developed by the FIDO Alliance, which allows users to securely log into websites and apps with a single tap or click.

FIDO2 passkeys give users secure access to their accounts without having to enter a username-password combination. Organizations can deploy FIDO sign-ins with passkeys so users can sign in with the same PIN or biometric credentials they use to access the device.

FIDO is designed from the ground up to protect user privacy and prevent phishing. Every passkey is unique and bound to the online service domain. The protocols do not provide information that can be used by different online services to collaborate and track a user across the services.

The FIDO ("Fast IDentity Online") Alliance is an open industry association launched in February 2013 whose stated mission is to develop and promote authentication standards that "help reduce the world's over-reliance on passwords".
