Aldi is closing its 890 stores in England and Wales next month to give staff a well-deserved day off.

Shoppers have been given a warning in advance ahead of Easter when the major change will be rolled out. The Easter weekend will see two Bank Holidays - one on Good Friday (April 7) and one on Easter Monday (April 10).

The discount supermarket chain will be changing how some of its stores operate with amendment's to opening hours while stores set to close to give staff a much needed break. Stores will be open until 10pm on Good Friday and Easter Saturday and open until 8pm on Easter Monday.

As with previous years, stores will be closed on Easter Sunday (April 9). The opening times of some stores may vary, so shoppers should check details for their local on Aldi’s website before making the trip.

Aldi has previously been praised for closing stores on Easter Sunday, the M.E.N reports. On Facebook, Dorothy Gourlay said: "Good for Aldi giving their staff a holiday for Easter Sunday more should do this."

Maureen Nolan Barnes said: "Very pleased you've got this special day off,Happy Easter to all the hard working staff." Sue Rice said: "All Aldi staff have a lovely Easter Sunday with your loved ones."

Joyce McKinney said: "Well done Aldi!!! Staff need a break as well." Patricia Craig praised: "Well done Aldi for giving your staff a holiday on Easter Sunday."

Aldi's rival Tesco has also announced a major change ahead of the Easter period. For the first time ever, the grocery giant has changed its iconic logo for Easter.

The new logo rolled out across supermarkets, delivery vans and billboards from Monday (March 20), and shoppers who spot it are in with a chance of winning £1,000 to spend on whatever they want, says Tesco.

From March 20 until Wednesday March 29, shoppers who spot one of the limited-edition logos across any format can enter for the chance to win £1000 by sharing an image of it on their Instagram grid or Twitter feed with the hashtag #CrackingEaster or post a photo of it under the promotional post on the Tesco Facebook page.

The giveaway will see 100 lucky entrants win £1,000 to spend at Tesco, to help them enjoy Easter with family and friends. Shoppers can visit Tesco stores from today to be in a chance of winning.
